US Unlocked Mate 10 Pro Available February 18th

this phone looks amazing but that P20 triple lenses sounds so good. idk if I should wait for the P20 announce or get the hauwei mate 10 pro

ordered thru massdrop and save $100 on it. although I'll have to wait March 5th till I get it. I also saved tax as it was straight 699.99. bestbuy with tax is 867.91. saved 167.92.

That's way more than I am willing to pay for it. Especially since it isn't a carrier model

When ordering on Best Buy and having it shipped to your house you get this message: "Your item will be released on Sun, Feb 18, but it is currently waitlisted due to popular demand. Order today to secure yours." But if you put pick up at a strore that message goes away.

Is this already back ordered?

It's a lot but I also made a nifty profit selling an item earlier and will put that into this phone. Making it nicer to pay off.

I don't know that seems hard to believe I expect this device to drop in price after a few months

It's just dropped dramatically in price here in the UK and it's not been out long at all. Just had my Note 8 refunded as the insurers lost it when I sent it off to get the smashed screen repaired so I'm going for the Mate 10 Pro instead as it's price here is just too good to ignore. I can now get the M10 Pro, a Huawei Watch 2 4g and a good case all for less than the price of the Note 8.

I feel the opposite. I think $650 is a fair price and I wouldn't want to be locked into a carrier nor do I want their bloatware on my phone.

I am anxious to see what software they put on the US version. I have the international version (in the US on AT&T) and the software is horrible. It is too bad because the hardware is excellent. It feels great, gets good signal and great wifi/cellular speeds, but there are so many problems with the software it ruins the phone. Most of the issues do not seem to be resolved in the leaked, but unreleased software versions. Again, I hope they fix it because the phone is otherwise great.

Try a different launcher.

I ordered mine yesterday through Amazon and there was no such message. Maybe try there instead?

I always use Nova. That is not the problem. EMUI's overly aggressive battery optimization causes most of the problems, even when it is turned off for important apps.
I do agree with the overly aggressive battery optimization, but I don't have much probs of the software on my Honor 8. Dunno how it is with Oreo.

There are a bunch of problems. The overly aggressive battery optimization kills email and similar apps that need to run continuously, it kills notifications for smartwatch, etc., it kills the updating of widgets, and that is all after allowing those apps to run in the background without battery optimization. It is bad enough where it does not even let its own always on display work properly if the phone is not used regularly. The time does not keep up. If the phone is in a dark place (pocket, etc.) for very long, it is very hard to wake it up. The notifications are all messed up, with fonts that are so big that the information spills outside the notification. Again, it cannot be adjusted. You can change the dpi if you go into developer options, but it does not help the notification font. Also, the dpi resets to a default setting, as does the display brightness, every time the phone is rebooted. All of these issues make the phone unreliable and unusable. As I said, the hardware is among the best out there, but it does not matter if the software messes it all up. I am hopeful, but doubtful, that the US version will have updated software that fixes these issues. I know it will not be released by the carriers, but there is no way AT&T or Verizon would have allowed such buggy software to be released on their phones. If the problems are not addressed, I will have to return mine. I will also have to use another phone until the US versions are released and I can see what software is on them. I have to be able to rely on my phone.

I would order from Amazon but I want to have the option to return the phone in case I don't like it or if there are software issues. I have read that you can no longer return cell phones to Amazon.

I had the mate 9 for a few months and never had issues with my Android Wear and my Gear s3 smart watches.
I remember in the settings I selected certain apps to not take part of the aggressive battery management. It's been a while so I don't remember the exact settings.
I plan on getting the 10 Pro so this is concerning.
I'm surprised Huawei would change things. My battery life was amazing w the mate 9.
I also didn't mind the skin too much because I put Nova Prime on all devices anyway. I really like the features Huawei adds to Android. I say this and I also own a pixel 2. Just my opinion.
