So my take on this for unlocked getting updates is it use to wait for all 4 carrier to get certified then roll out , now it looks like whichever carrier certified first will get the update on unlocked version.
Still nothing on my unlocked snapdragon with AT&T as a carrier. Who rolls out the update for my phone, Samsung or AT&T?
Give it a try. I know I had this same issue before on ATT. I removed the sim and the devices updated right awayWhat happens if I take my sim out of my unlocked S20??? Then it's not tied to a carrier. Will it update over WiFi?![]()
If you can borrow a Verizon SIM it should updateWhat happens if I take my sim out of my unlocked S20??? Then it's not tied to a carrier. Will it update over WiFi?![]()
It does matter, Samsung has now switched to Pixel way of updating. As soon as they get carrier certification they will push the update to that carrier instead of waiting for all crappy carries to certify. Which is good.I have an unlocked S20+ I bought direct from Samsung. My friend has a Verizon and was updated Saturday morning. Mine hasn't updated yet. I have a t-mobile sim card in it but I don't think that matters. I had an unlocked Note 10+ I traded in and I had the same problem when it was with Sprint at first then changed to t-mobile. Never got the updates that were mentioned here others get, sometimes over a week later.
I wonder, what would happen if I took the sim out and tried, on wifi of course. I have an old S8+ that I update that way.
Agreed....this is how I understand it to workIt does matter, Samsung has now switched to Pixel way of updating. As soon as they get carrier certification they will push the update to that carrier instead of waiting for all crappy carries to certify. Which is good.
Unfortunately T-Mobile and AT&T haven't certified yet.
If you remove sim and try on WiFi it won't help since last registered carrier is still TMobile. If you want update put your friends Verizon sim, restart and check for update. After update you can put back your T-Mobile SIM.
Agreed....this is how I understand it to work
Yep that's how I used to do for unlocked Pixel phones all the time when I had TMobile who was always late to certify the update. When I was too lazy to sideload just swap it to SIM of the carrier who has the update certified.I was using my Ultra on AT&T, no update. I had an old Verizon SIM card lying around, not active, and popped it in and the update was found on the first check. Updating now, then will replace the SIM card with my AT&T one.
At least with Pixel you could sideload on day one of update announcement even if the useless carries drag their feet. It would be nice if Samsung could give us ability to sideload the OTA like that, while the carries are "busy" certifying. Then we will not worry about this and just sideload for people who can't wait.T-Mobile is dragging their feet. I keep refreshing to see if it's available. Makes it worst being cooped up in the house with nothing to do.
Works for me. I rhink you would have to go to the "Learn More" link and it indicates that it improves the camera.![]()
I bad AT&T when I had my Note 10+ and literally never got any updates. I never understood it.Finally got the update on AT&T.
What works for you? You could download it without a wifi connection?
It's the camera update because the build number (end with ATCH) and updated camera version all match with what exynos version had after the update. I wouldn't put that much into change log as companies don't do a good job about that. And more over lots of blogs reported that the US snapdragon versions are now getting the camera update referring to this update. If it was incorrect Samsung US PR would have corrected the reports in no time. It's showing the update available now but it won't let me download the update and says I have to connect to wi-fi? Huh? Am I missing something here? I pay for the top tier unlimited data plan from AT&T. How do I get this downloaded going? I have to be missing a setting or something?
That said, this update doesn't explicitly mention a camera fix like the exynos version does. I don't think there's a camera update for the Snapdragon yet with this update because why would the update explicitly mention it for the Exynos version and not the Snapdragon?
9to5google confirmed it alsoIt's the camera update because the build number (end with ATCH) and updated camera version all match with what exynos version had after the update. So, there is no frickin way that this is not the camera update.
