US Unlocked Ultra - camera update rolling out !!

I got tired of waiting on T-Mobile, so I put my Verizon Sim in the ultra and got the update.

How are you guys liking the camera update? Has it fixed your auto-focus issues? I had my download the other day but haven't really had time to play around with the camera - my Job is an essential business, so no lock down for me, which I am perfectly fine with btw.

Just got the update this morning on my unlocked ultra using ATT. My initial impressions just taking photos of my family is the focusing is very much improved. It’s not as good as my previous pixel 4 XL but it is sufficient in most cases. Previously no matter how hard I tried it was hard to get a sharp photo of people unless I tapped the persons face on the screen to focus on that area. Even then the focus might have still been off. After the update it seems to be getting the majority of my family photos in focus which is so much better than before. I have not tried any videos yet, but am very happy with the update thus far.

I wonder if that works on T-Mobile carrier variants. I assume you have an unlocked model.

No it won't work for carrier variants because those are different firmware and will be be pushed from carrier not Samsung. For unlocked model it's the same firmware irrespective of your SIM, just that Samsung started staging updates based on carrier certification. The way they know is based on your sim last reported to their servers what carrier your US unlocked phone is. AKA Pixel style.

Got the update earlier today on my ATT Ultra. Focus does seem a little better. Need to test a little more. Wish they improved on the processing tho. But I doubt they'll ever improve that.

Me too I updated today. I am happy.

But of course no Ota update from them
So I flashed ATT download with odin to my phone. Works well. My pictures are crisp and look good to mr

Most carriers have file size limits for downloads regardless of the plan.

Is it just me or does anyone else see the irony of pushing 5G speeds that could download this update in a second or so but restrict it's use like this? I swear the human race completely fails to make any sense and people are going gaga over 5g when they aren't going to see any different real world usge.

I would rather have a true unlimited and unrestricted 4G that you could actually utilize than 5G with all that bandwidth that you can't even use to download important updates for the device that you're paying for the data access for. Oh the irony of the human race failing to make any sense.

I can't wait until hurray 6G 700,000,000Mbps but can't download updates for the device that you're paying for the data for....LMAO.

I can surely stream 50GB of meaningless 4K video though but can't download a 500Mb important device update. SMH. Absolutely ridiculous. They give you all this bandwidth for what? Posting food and pet pics to Facebook? Lmao.

Except you can't even stream 4K using data. LOL Carriers cap video quality too. At least in the US they do. I do get what you're saying though.

No, AT&T's top tier unlimited plan doesn't down grade video it mentions that compared to the lower plans with data saver off. I've streamed 4k countless times - you just have to manually turn data saver off while being on a top teir unlimited plan.

Gotcha. I haven't checked in to ATT's plans in a bit. Last time I did it topped out at HD. Good to know, though. Thanks!

Yea the plans and features change so often it's hard to keep up and you actually have to dig through settings in your account to turn data saver off because it's turned on by default. They even gave me free HBO streaming with this plan. All that video streaming data usage they allow you but God forbid I can't download an important device update though...lol.

I remember the data saver thing from years ago when I had ATT. I switched away from them b/c their prices seemed to be going up constantly.

Yea, they're pricey but they have the best service where I live. My neighbor on Verizon has to use an outdoor antenna to get stable service and I get four out of five bars indoors without an antenna and run around 60Mbps downloads and have seen peaks of 103Mbps (this is on LTE) downloads with the S20U so I'm fine with paying a little extra for top service for my area.
