I recall doing this with other phone OSes but don't recall a method to do this with Android. I did some searching but the only results I got for USB audio on Android was that it is now possible with Lollipop to use a USB microphone. Anyone know if I can connect my phone to my PC and stream audio from it through my PC's audio output (to which I have some killer headphones attached)?

This might be a bit late, but the only reliable way I know of that gives you ALL PC audio without having bluetooth is the SoundWire app. It has a trial version, or you can get the full version (linked) for $3.99 on Google Play if you want control over compression and latency. I'd recommend getting that. The audio on my PC had gone kaput a while ago as well, so I've been using this... even for gaming. It works. Keep in mind, though, that it runs over WiFi (not the internet, just through the router), and you will need to install the SoundWire server for it to work. If you hadn't found a fix yet, enjoy!

PS: unfortunately, I'm not allowed to post links yet, so just look up SoundWire on Google Play, and SoundWire server (it'll be on georgielabs.net)

Apologies, misread the post the first time. The best I could find from a search were BubbleUPnP for DLNA/Chromecast on Google Play, AllConnect - Play & Stream, also on Google Play, Plex (Google Play), and AirWire (UPnP/DLNA), also on Google Play. AirWire is the only one that fully advertises itself as a streaming service, and I haven't tested it out. Good luck.

Choices:

  1. Simply connect your phone to your pc as a usb storage unit, and get the PC to read and play the files (usually the same cable you use for charging will do this.
  2. Invest in a DAC/Amp such as Oppo HA-2 (or one of the Fiio's, or other brands). Connect to your phone's USB port using an OTG (on the go)cable, connect your headphones directly to the DAC (bypass the PC) or use the line out from the DAC to line in of your PC. UAPP or Onkyo HiFI player are the required apps for android for this method.
