Users coming from iPhone5 to Maxx...

Anyone doing this care to talk about their experience with the Maxx coming from the iPhone5? Just curious. Been weighing trading my iPhone5 in for the Maxx on Verizon and would like to know some of the upside and downside. It'd be much appreciated! PS: No need to talk about weight. I've done plenty of research on the subject and it's just a sacrifice that may need to be made.

I'm own an iPhone 5, HTC One, Nexus 4, and Maxx. I can concretely say the Maxx is the best of the bunch. It's just as fast as the One and the battery life easily surpasses the iPhone 5. While I enjoyed iOS 7, it wasn't enough to make me stay on iOS. The Maxx is everything I've wanted in an Android phone: stock experience (bloatware easily disabled), software that enhances the OS (active notifications; touch less controls), and impressively long battery life.

You won't be disappointed with the Maxx.

I switched from the RAZR MAXX HD (2012 model) to an iPhone 5. I'd never owned an iPhone so I wanted to try it...I was also insanely frustrated with the PenTile screen and horrendous laaaaaggggg on the RAZR. It's been an interesting experience, I went from absolutely hating the iPhone, to really enjoying it; I should mention it's jailbroken...gotta have some functionality and customization!

I absolutely hate the lack of simultaneous Voice/LTE on the iPhone, but quite honestly, the screen is extremely clear, identical apps (YouTube included) work better on iPhone and its the smoothest phone I've ever used.

I've spent 3 days each with a Galaxy S4 & HTC One...the iPhone is absolutely smoother, no question, quicker in most daily tasks too. I find myself contemplating the Droid MAXX or LG G2...I always seem to be drawn back to the battery life and function the MAXX provides.

Honestly, I need to get over the smoothness thing, Android simply won't ever be as smooth as iOS as long as it continues to be programmed in JAVA and running within a VIRTUAL MACHINE on the handset...(technical explanation here.)

I'm just hyper sensitive to jitters, stutters and lag. It instantly pulls me out of whatever I'm doing and instantly puts me into the 'dammed phone' thought process.

I've not personally demoed the Droid MAXX yet, I absolutely intend to, with its enormous battery, (non-PenTile) AMOLED & off screen buttons; the feature set is hard to ignore.

I would have to say that after having all said phones the poster above has had and currently using the DM this phone is as smooth if not smoother then the HTC one and iPhone 5. GS4 cannot even come close to the speed the X8 is producing. Everything is seamless.

I myself am extremely surprised at the way the DM performs. I too had the RAZR MAXX HD and loved it but couldn't stand the lagggg. This is a total 360.

Best Android handset out hands down. However that is my opinion. ;-)

My 6 year old son has played with an ipad all summer (nearly draining battery every day) and it 30+ days of uptime and ran smoothly. Wife's iP4 (512megs ram) runs vonage, Viber, Facebook, and other stuff is perfectly smooth and 60+ days since last reboot. I am very impressed with their performance that I seriously considered getting an iP5.

Bigger screen, massive battery and the active notifications and the built in weather proofing of Droid Maxx got me to stay in the Android camp.

Kind of miss the Iphone 5 but the maxx battery life makes up for it. I liked the build and feel of the 5 and everything was simple to do and fast.thought I'd never give it up. Went out to dinner at 600 and got home at 1100 and had no battery left. Was tired of walking around with a charger in my pocket looking to plug it in all the time.figured i would get the maxx and at least have a battery that lasts. Now I like the maxx just as much as the 5 .apps seem more quality on apple and miss iTunes a little. All in all this was a great move to come to the maxx and once I get all my music over I'll be completely happy with it. Kind of wondering why apple hasn't put a bigger battery in there phones yet. Miss apple operating system not the small screen and small battery.

That is the disadvantage of apple controlling everything. They only make one form factor, which gives them great consistency but they suffer from lack of choices.

The Android ecosystem is not consistent from phone to phone, but users can pick features important to them and go with the phone that highlights those features.

If you like the form of the I5 you will love the X then. Go to the store and play around with it. Plus decent battery life.

Went from an iPhone 5 to Maxx. The maxx felt huge and heavy. In all my years using smartphones I hardly drop them but I dropped the maxx twice in 4 days. I returned it and got the Moto X. The form factor is unbelievable the battery life is still great and it has much less bloat. Why lug around a phone that still has 40 percent left on the battery when it's bedtime. The maxx is probably a great phone for the 10 percent of the people that really need it but you just can't beat the moto x.

Maybe the next day in the near future that same person is in a layover at the airport and wants to play on their phone for 3+ hours straight without being the guy sitting next to the wall charger sitting on the floor. Then still making it with enough battery until bed time .. Having more battery is all around better, yesterday I spent 3+ hours straight just reading up on current events.

Isn't choice great???

I do not accept your 90% number. I think there are more people that get stuck w/o battery at the end of the day, or start to monitor their use to squeak by. There are now many choices on the market that allow each user to prioritize their needs, and select a device and accessories that meet that.

I like that a normal day ends me at 40% or so. That means if I decide to go out that night, I still have plenty of battery to go. I don't want to plug into a wall or a brick. I want to pick my phone up in the morning and not think about it until I go to bed -- no matter what I decide to get into that day. The Maxx has given me that freedom. After my experience with the Galaxy Nexus, I value not carrying a charger, battery pack, or spare battery. I got quite good at managing all of that, but it was always on my mind. Now I unplug in the morning and go.It feels great, and personally I don't want to go back to an experience where I have to think about needing more battery during a day.

I have not held an X yet, but I have to say, I really like the Maxx form factor. I don't find it to big or too heavy. Feels good in my hand, and I like the soft touch kevlar.

You're working overtime in a Maxx thread trying to justify your purchase of the Moto X. Not much going on in the Moto X Threads?
I appreciate that you are seemingly satisfied with your choice. But I gotta sneaking feeling that if the Moto X had the capacity to have 40% battery left at the end of the day, I bet it would become one of your talking points.

It's always fascinating when folks criticize a strength in a device that is lacking in the device of their choice only to realize it's basically a function they wished they had in their device. Or else why criticize it?
One dude out of every other wireless device owner wouldn't want the convenience of having 40% battery life left at bedtime. I guess a dude like*you wouldn't accept a lottery winning of millions of dollars because you couldn't use all that extra cash. I mean who wants 40% extra money at the end of the day, right?

What about in two years and after 500 recharges? Will the battery still give you the same level of service? I had to replace the battery in my Droid X2 to regain some run time. These phones have sealed batteries..
