Anyone use your android to access your home computer using the remote computer function of your desktop like you can do from a laptop.

Remote computer function? You mean Remote Desktop Connection? It runs on desktops as well as laptops. We use it all the time at work to connect to blade servers.

There are apps for remote access. I can't recall names off the top of my head.

yea, thats what i mean, remote desktop, I want to use my android phone to connect to my desktop and run apps on desktop from phone.

Been using phonemypc for a few days and it works great. Access to the office desktop is quick and it's actually fairly easy to navigate.

Have a short trip coming up in a couple of weeks and looking forward to leaving the laptop at home.

What phone do you use?

I am currently using an ap called remote VNC. I used PalmVNC for years on my Palm phones. It works great if you can tap the correct spot on the screen to activate what you want on your computer. It was a lot easier with the Palm as it used a stylus and you could be much more accurate than with your finger. I tried a stylus on my Moment and it really doesn't do anything. My wife uses Citrixweb but I think your home computer has to be on it too.

I use remote VNC pro to control my Windows or Linux desktop, and connectbot to get an SSH shell on my pc's if I need to get at the command line.

Last night I was outside on the deck watching the deer, and copied a video from my backup server to my Windows PC, then uploaded it to youtube all from my Hero.

I also use my Hero when I'm building or hacking at Android, as my "development" machine has no monitor, keyboard or mouse attached. It runs Linux and I just log on through connectbot and I'm essentially at my computer minus using the KVM switch :)

I'm very interested in this topic. I would like to be able to remote connect into my home computer from my Incredible but i'm not sure how to do this. I'm running windows 7 on my home computer. Is there an app out there that i can install on my phone to allow me to remote connect and how do you do it? Would I need my IP address? MAC address? I don't have a static IP address, would this be an issue? Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: The version of Windows 7 I'm using is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit, not sure if that makes a difference since I'm not running Windows 7 Professional.

I've been using LogMeIn from my laptop to an office machine for about a year. Just today found and bought the Android app. Pricey, ($25?) but worth every penny on my expense account! LogMeIn is a free service with optional upgrade, seems plenty secure.
