Hi, is there a way to sync all my contacts with facebook and use their images on the contact. I've tried going into accounts and sync with facebook but that just brings all my fb friends into my contacts list. i do not want this.

I just want my current contacts to be linked to fb and not export my entire fb list onto my phone.

I use Contacts+ app to manage my contacts and there is an option to sync with Facebook. I'm not sure about the stock app

I haven't done anything special other than add my FB account under sync settings. I did tell it to only sync contacts already in my contact list instead of "All". But my contacts all have their FB profile pictures as their images.

You may have to manually link a few of them if their names are slightly different.

That's exactly what you need to do, then you must link any account that didn't do it automatically, then just go to Contacts and in the settings you will find the Contacts to display option, there you select or remove the ones you want to be shown.

I'm lost....
i cant seem to figure how to get my phone to sync my phones contact list with fb. it either brings in all my fb contacts, or doesn't sync with them at all? (well, actually that's not true, it found a couple, but it could have been thru google+ or gmail, which is what i think happened)?

You set Facebook app to sync with your Existing Contacts only, that's on Facebook app under settings - App settings. Just go to your phone Accounts under settings and check that the Sync With your device option is checked, while you are there click on the account so it syncs again.

On your Contacts app you click More, and there you see Merge contacts, that will merge al the contacts it finds that matches between all your accounts, then click Settings, and you'll see Contacts to display, when you click that you'll see that by default it has All contacts selected, so that's the reason you'll see all your Facebook friends on your Contact app, I hate that and I don't want it or need it, so I just select my Google Account and it will show only my contacts under my Google account, you can use the Customized list of you want to see more than one account's contacts.

Then only thing left is to go to your Contacts and see which one are merged automatically the rest you should do it kauai, you need to go one by one and edit them and click on Link option and it will allow you to manually choose the other account's contacts to link to.

I hope you can finally do what you want because the above is as much detailed as possible.

Or even a better idea i think. Use my contacts whats app pictures as their contact photo. Is that possible?

The weird thing is that I have done all of this, and I even used Haxsync like i did on onther devices. It will show that as a tab under a contact, but it wont let me make them the default. Any ideas? Currently its only showing the photo from their Gmail which was from a Facebook sync I did about a month ago with Haxsync. All i want at the end of the day is for my phone to show a contacts facebook photo, and update when it updates on FB.

Get rid of haxsync and download sync.me....Don't worry that it's also a caller id app, you can disable that in the settings (although I personally kinda like it). High quality pics and so far it works great for me. Fast too.

It's really ridiculous that you can't just go into the person's contact information and say use Facebook photo. Why would they remove this feature?

sort of yes sort of no.

my old phone sync'd my contact list with facebook, it seems like this is going the other way around.

I didn't have to go in individually to link or unlink contacts, only the contacts that were listed in my phone sync'd with facebook (or what ever account was chosen).

maybe I am still doing it wrong (a lot of my contacts come up linked to waze, very few came up as duplicates to be merged)

I think some of us have a different issue. My contacts ARE syncing from Facebook directly, no need for HAxsync or anything. The issue is when you go to a contact you see two tabs, one for Google and one for Facebook. It defaults to the Google photo and will not let you set Facebook as the default. I cannot for the life of me figure it out. The photos are syncing, just can do anything with them!

I have done all of this, but it defaults to photo to the Google photo. I will have two tabs for the contact, one says Google and one says Facebook. The Facebook photo is there and correct, it just wont let me assign that as the default. It makes no sense why this just doesnt work.

I only know one way around it.
1. Go to contacts using the contacts app directly
2. Click on the contact you want to change image
3. Click more
4. Click mark as default
- here you can choose either Google or Facebook

*I know this works when the contacts are linked.

Wait, you have an S6 and when you click More it still has a Mark Default option? That's been my problem, I don't have that option ever since I upgraded from S4 to S6.
Do you know what the deal with that is?

I too do not have the "mark as default" option. My facebook contact photos are synced with contacts in the phone but it does not show up when using SMS/MMS. It's driving me nuts.
