using headphones on htc one mini

my daughter listens to music all time on phone but now as soon as she plugs her headphones there is no music. checked headphones. phone still working same just no volume. Is she doing something wrong or is it a fault on the phone ? she has only had phone 1 month

Obviously you would have tried the volume control several times
Go into settings and check that the sound hasn't been accidentally turned off by one of the apps on the phone
Also try turning the phone completely off, leave for twenty seconds or so, then turn back on, similar to a computer reboot
If all this fails then I would suspect a fault which means sending it back to the retailer:

Ring them first to let them know it's on the way and enclose a note with the phone explaining the problem and how you checked everything to ensure that it's not a user error
