using phone texting in car sync?

I have sg2 i777 att. Not rooted. Trying to use phone for texting while in car using sync 2010. Tells me phone won't do that, I have tried setting, don't see anything to change. Is this just this phone? Or has anyone been able to get there's to work. The phone syncs and can make and receive calls.

If it's Ford sync you have to turn on the option in the car system. The downside is that you can only send texts at a certain speed and only limited texts at that but it reads all received texts

Yes it is Ford, haven't found any way tl turn it on. Went to advanced, get a message this phone won't do that, not in those exact words,

Do u have the newest version of sync? You can find out at sync my ride. com. I also had an gs2 and text was supported by the device. I was on at&t it could be a carrier issue. It almost sounds to me that the sync system needs updating

Thanks, Guess if I want to use that feature I will have to update. Don't think I have that version.
I have att also s2 i777.

If that's not it try a fuse pull iv had to do that quite a few times
