Using the Moto X Pure Edition on Sprint?

After three attempts, I finally received the correct SIM from Sprint today. As mentioned above, the UPC is 019962040146. On each request, they mailed me one at no charge. Two of the three were even sent overnight.

My Pure is now active on Sprint's network. I did extensive testing, and found that does indeed access all three of Sprint's LTE bands (25, 26, 41). I ran speed tests on each, here in central Florida. Band 41 is by far the fastest, at least in this area.

So, once you get past the hurdle of getting the right SIM, the phone will work like any other Sprint phone, on all of their available resources.

You got them to overnight it to you? They certainly didn't give me that option and they had already screwed up and sent me the wrong one.

Moto X Pure Edition - Not on Sprint

Just rcvd my Moto X Pure Edition yesterday and took it over to Sprint to activate it on one of their plans. Sprint refused. They said this phone will not work on their network, Called Motorola while in the store. Motorola said the phone will work on their network, but Sprint still refused to activate, said I had to buy one of their Samsung or iPhones for $700+. So I went to Verizon, and I'm now a happy Moto X user. I'll never consider using Sprint again.

Re: Moto X Pure Edition - Not on Sprint

I knew they wouldn't activate it, but are they saying it doesn't work? That's flat out false. The phone is designed to work on all 4 major networks.

Re: Moto X Pure Edition - Not on Sprint

They will activate it. You need to give them the imei # without the final digit, and you need them to give you the sim card used in the M9. Mine is up and running.

I think you just saved yourself a lot of hassle, Sprints Network is not that great.

Finally got mine activated when I picked up an M9 SIM at best buy. It even rang up as M9/Moto X Pure sim

Re: Moto X Pure Edition - Not on Sprint

cut my micro sim to nano...but of course sprint wants to pitch a fit and not activate because its "not compatible"

Just went through this. The corporate store had no idea what I was talking about, or anything about the phone. I gave them the UPC, Part number of the required SIM and they didn't have any in stock. I called customer support and the lady was even more clueless, she refused to even send me a SIM even if I provided the part number. She kept saying she couldn't activate a phone not bought from sprint. In the end I walked in to Best Buy and asked them if they had this SIM card for sprint and gave them the UPC and Part number and they must have had a whole stack(wtf sprint?) of them. I was in and out of Best Buy in less than 5 mins. I then used Live Chat and they activated the phone easily.

I feel this would have been easier if Motorola had provided a Sprint SIM card when I ordered the phone. If you go through the order process now on Motorola, they now offer you an option of a SIM for the different carriers for $5. That wasn't there when I originally ordered the phone on 9/3.

So would my current Sprint Nano SIM from Moto X 2013 work since it's already activated and works on my current Moto X?

I'm seeing mix reports and not sure if it'll work.

from the way it seems sprint is doing it (mind you i had to go through the same sim issue with my n5)...once they pair an imei with the sim id, their system wont unpair it...and you need a new sim.

Cant activate my Moto X Pure on Sprint

Hi all,

I can't figure out how to activate my Moto X pure on Sprint. I bought the phone from Motorola and wanted to replace my LG G4 that I got from Sprint. The SIM card from the G4 seems to be to big for the Moto X. Do I need a new SIM?

Thanks

The sim from your g4 is in fact too large. You need a nano sim.

Re: Using the Moto X Pure Edition on Sprint

Literally all Sprint store's as well as their Customer Care have access to ordering these SIM cards. You may have to provide them the UPC/SKU to ring it out in store or so they can ship it to you. Not all Sprint stores have employees as experienced or knowledgeable as the one I go to. Sometimes you have to politely nudge them in the right direction.

No they don't. The I was working with at Customer Care thought that too. He called several stores in my area none had SIMs. And after a week of talking to Sprint reps and being sent the wrong SIM card I found it much easier to go to Best Buy.

Oh, and Sprint took care of the cost of the card.

Call Sprint and ask for the following SIM card:

Part: SIMGLW446C
SKU: CZ2144LWC
UPC: 019962040146

If you have trouble from Sprint go to Best Buy. Best Buy won't be free but they'll get it done.

Yes, they do. You may be speaking with reps who don't know what they are doing but any corporate sprint store and customer care can order any and all SIM cards necessary for any phone activation. What is happening it seems is that these stores have not had reps that were proactive in ordering the SIM cards when they were initially announced with the phone in the internal Sprint Playbook that I posted about a week before the preorders started. Now, they can't seem to figure out where to look to pull up the proper SKU/UPC in order to get it shipped to you or the store. This is why you will likely have to provide the information for them to make it easier, especially if they aren't a store with a tech side.

Also, that's great and pretty surprising that sprint took care of the cost of your card. Good info but I doubt that will be a consistent experience.
