Using the screen in sunlight

The S3 has a widget called Negative colors, which will do what you're trying to do. It looks weird, but it does make the screen easier to read in bright light.

Keeping the screen clean makes a big difference, too. Turn your back to the sun so your body shades the screen. And try both auto-brightness and manually turning brightness all the way up. Some people think one way works better, some the other.

Anyone who says direct sunlight is not a problem is crazy. I believe it has to do with reflectance of the screen and simply the brightness. Anti reflectance covers do not help. I will try the reverse image, that may be better,The only phone I have seen that is great in the sun is the new blackberry. I would like to see someone from Samsung look at their screen and copy it . It is really that good.
PS. I live on the beach

I agree. At 100% screen brightness I barely can see my S3 screen outside and with my sunglasses on I can't see the screen at all.

Has there ever been a phone that works in direct sunlight? My first experience with any device that actually does this is my ASUS Transformer Prime Infinity with "Super IPS" mode. You activate that and wow, it's bright!

I know this is an old thread but, I had an old Nokia (non touch screen) that had a light sensor. In the sun the screen switched to chromatic which you could see in the sun.
