Used to wirelessly charge my S6 Active and after a while, I felt like my battery life went down. Used to last 2 days, now half a day. Hopefully they will fix the overheating issue with wireless charging and the phone will stay cool. Are you going to use wireless charging on your S8?

I think that if i was given a wireless charging pad in the box or as free accessory when i purchase the Galaxy S8 i would probably use it :D Mostly just for the fun factor. I think they are super awesome. Im not too worried about damaging my battery. All batteries hold less charge over time and nothing lasts forever. Although i would love them to :D

The average (slow) wireless charger has a maximum output of 5V/1A which is about 500mAh per hour and lots of cable alternatives can reach up to 1,500mAh per hour so its definitely a lot slower which is a good thing?. Should reduce heat? :)

Im sure Samsung are working very hard to bring us ice cold wireless and cable charging :D

It shouldn't overheat but the phone will get warmer -- that is just the nature of wireless charging. Jerry explains it more here.

The coil in your Android is also connected to the battery charging circuit, and your battery is charged using the energy induced by the magnetic field. Excess heat is created as well, and that's part of why wireless charging isn't the most efficient way to transfer power from the wall to your battery.

The Samsung stand up wireless charger has a cooling fan which works on fast charge. My S7 never gets warmer than 36°c.

All batteries wear down over time.

I use the wireless charging pad both at home and at work and haven't really noticed much depreciation of battery life.

Hard to tell for me because I usually have a lot going on in the background on my Note 5. I have the S7E and will see how this phone fares. I use both wired and wireless charges.

It sounds like you already made up your mind that the wireless charger was degrading your battery over time. If that was the case, you'd be seeing a lot more stories online about this.
Over time, you may have just accumulated a lot more apps running simultaneously or apps where the settings weren't customized for best power usage.
I will use the same charger I'm using now for my S7E. I don't need anything faster as it's only used at night.

Tried a factory reset. After 8 months, battery life was a disappointment. It gets worn out overtime, and heat damages the battery life overtime. I've learned my lesson and now try to keep my phone temperature cool, I even made a custom phone dock/fan.

It's possible you just got a bad one. It happens. No one should need to cool their docking / charging station. "over time" it might degrade. But, that should not happen at 8 months.
Did you have a quality charger?
Also, it's not wireless charging, it's fast wireless charging that will slowly degrade the battery life.

When I had my S6 I routinely charged it overnight using a wireless charger and didn't see any ill effects. However, while on on a 2 week road trip vacation I did something to fry the battery where it could hold a charge for only 4 or 5 hours. I think it was the 12v cig lighter USB cable I was using. Since then, I've upgraded to the S7 and have used the wireless charger for the last 10 months with no issues.

I have used wireless charging on both my S6 and S7, and from what I could tell, it didn't have any effect on my battery life. Besides, with the convenience of just setting my phone on the base and not dealing with cords every time I want to charge is a huge plus for me.

Charging methods which cause more heat will always degrade battery life more than those that use less.
