Alright, then I guess you can try a manual flash. This will require three things. An unlocked bootloader, android sdk which you can download directly from this post through the download section as you wish, Just click 32 bit or 64 bit, and that you have an htc one xl/att version. Now go here:
TeamWin Projects - TWRP 2.6 - HTC One X (ATT/evita) | TeamWin and download the img of 2.5 or even 2.6 if you want. Now once downloaded, drag it to your desktop Then open up cmd. On your phone, go into bootloader mode and select fastboot. Connect your phone to your pc and on your phone it should turn into fastboot usb. Now back to the sdk. Put the downloaded sdk into your c drive or a place where you can easily find it. Unzip it and then in that same folder, find the platform tools folder. Once you are in, you need to change the directory in cmd to point to the platform tools folder. You can do this by typing " cd [location of platform tools folder]" once done, put the recovery img in the platform tools folder. Then type "fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img" where recovery name is just the name of the twrp you chose. Let it finish and you should have recovery. Let me know if this works.
