Hi guys, new to LG, came from the Note 7/Edge 7 after recall to this. First few days it was fine, but now i've noticed last three days it doesn't charge over 94%. I saw in some threads people have said calibrate battery or whatever, but i don't see how to do that. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thank you.
Mike

Have you tried charging with phone off or in airplane mode? In other words turn off all apps.

no, but it worked fine the first week or so went right to 100%, now it just kind of stalls around 94

Calibrating a Li-ion battery means charging as full as you can, draining it until the phone shuts off, then recharging again to full (preferably with the phone off). If that doesn't work, you may have a bad battery. Not the exploding kind, just lost capacity.

Some other things to check are if the battery is physically swollen. This is sometimes hard to see, but trying to spin it on a flat surface will let you know. It'll keep spinning a bit if swollen. Also, does the phone shut off before the battery reaches 0%? That's another good indicator of a bad battery.

I would try a FDR, if that doesn't work, return it. Sounds like a hardware issue.

I don't think calibrating has anything to do with a battery indicator going to 100 percent. The only thing you could try would be to check it with a different battery and if its the battery itself or the phone. Maybe you could bring it to a carrier store and let see if it charges more in a different phone.

I just had this same issue too. Last night it only charged to 92% and wouldn't go past it. Today, I drained the battery to zero, charged again and it's back at 100%. Odd glitch, but was easily correctable and there were not other obvious issues. I've ordered a spare battery just in case it is the battery, but am not too worried about it overall.

Agree, let it drain to zero, until it auto shuts off. Charge to 100% while phone is off

Same here. Only get's to 93%. Unplug it and plug it back in I get 94%.
Going to run it out tonight and try that.

Nice. It's also a trick to "condition" battery. No idea if it really works but did it anyways...

Lithium batteries don't need conditioning like older Ni-Cad and Ni-MH batteries. You're not gaining any lost capacity, only recalibrating the fuel gauge to more accurately measure what's in it.

V20 Battery Issue

I've had the V20 for roughly 8 days and for the past 3 days the battery will only charge to 92%. I called LG and they want me to ship them my battery so they can evaluate it before sending me a new one. Which basically means I need to stop using my phone for 7-10 days (not happening). Anyone having a similar issue?

Oh, brother! Another battery issue on a major phone?! :( I reaaaally hope this is not widespread (I mean, it's not exploding haha but still!). And then there's the posts that had their camera lenses crack (although I haven't seen any of those lately...mmmmhh).

So far I'm pleased with the V20, but gotta be honest... it's not the Note 7. I already know this is going back once the S8 comes out :(

Did the OP ever get this resolved? Sounds like a bunk battery.

q4kntmare: Sending the battery back and waiting for 7 to 10 days? LMAO! Yeah right! They should send a new battery and then you can return it. They could even take a cc number to make sure that you actually send the old one back, that's fair but to be without your new phone for 10 days is ridiculous!

You've returned it already haven't you? I love Samsung devices. I've had the S4, S5, S6 and S7 Edge. I have to admit though, it sure is nice having a device that doesn't suffer the curse of TouchWiz lag. I've had lag on every single on of my Samsung phones. The keyboard lag on the S6 and S7E was just ridiculous. I'm sure I'll grab another Samsung device at some point but I'm really enjoying my lag free LG V20.

This sounds like an issue with the battery monitor, not the battery. I haven't had this issue with either of my batteries. But it sounds like it's just a matter of recalibrating the monitor. Running the battery to 0% and letting it turn off on its own seems to perform a recalibration and solve the issue. If I ever had that issue, that would be my "go to" move.
