V20 or V30?

The only time I see my battery is when I drop the phone and the cover pops off.

The V30 will have 6mb ram and better processor to help its battery. and most importantly AMOLED screen which uses far less battery than LCD. Plus no always on small screen always draining 24/7. The V30 is going to be a battery saving beast.

so i will certainly switch , especially for the waterproofing. (I live on beach in FL so its important feature I need ).

Right, the G6 is already better in battery than the V20, so the V30 should be amazing.

I don't remove my battery unless I'm swapping the SIM to another device anyway. So the removable battery debate isn't one I'm concerned with. The Quad DAC and the second screen are my too loves with the V20. I like the big screen of the V20, I'd love to see what a wider version in the V30 would be like. That being said, some of the rumors are it will be just like the new "longer" screens that make a phone bigger. Give me a wider, not longer screen. There's also the rumor it will move to the AMOLED screen. The ability to pair the V30 with VR is an intriguing facade. But to be honest, the V20 is doing everything I could want in a device and I don't see the V30 having enough jump in advancements that I'd "need" to get it.

I didn't buy the V20 because of the second screen but I love it...., by itself there is no single feature that would stop me from buying the V30 except the Quad DAC

I see no need to buv v30. If I wanted all glass 2 by I dimensions I would get an S8 plus
Better screen, even if v30 goes Amoled
Imho

I plan to keep my LG V10. I was going to get a V20 "but missed the sales. I will either get the G6 Plus or wait to see what the V30 has to offer.

AMOLED isn't a defacto battery saver. If you use it a lot at full brightness and not using black themes and such, then battery life differences are somewhat minimal. As for the secondary screen on the V20, it uses so little power as to be ignored when considering battery impact.

Like Mjeff00 I just got my V20 in the last month. Very happy with it. I came from the Moto XPE (2015) because the battery was dying after only 1.5 years. That's why the removable battery was the deciding factor so going back to a sealed battery does nothing for me. I've never seen the value (quite the opposite, in fact) of a glass back. Totally stupid, IMO.

Originally, the second screen seemed superfluous but now that I'm using it I really like it. It even has a shortcut for taking a screenshot - I don't have to use the unmanageable power/volume down combo! Who thought the power button on the back was a good idea?!?

My Moto Pure is at the end of it's battery life as well. I could send it in for a battery replacement if I wanted to keep the phone but I'm more than ready for an upgrade.

As far as the power button on the back, I've loved it since the G2. I could snap a screenshot pushing the power and volume with one finger.

Thank God there are choices. What works for me may not work for others and vice versa.

Need to know more info. If they improve the camera even more, like a true upgrade, and keep/improve the dac, ill be somewhat interested. If not those things, prob not.

Not on the V20, unfortunately. Very awkward without that Second Screen shortcut!

Agreed on having choices. Unfortunately, those choices are dependent on the manufacturers' marketing research trying to please reviewers instead of users.

I honestly would not buy a phone with removable battery as my #1 reason or any single feature for that matter. A phone has to do many things well in order to be a decent device but first and foremost we buy phones for the ability to communicate with others.

But if you think about it, a sealed phone is made for a certain demographic and the primary focus is good looks pretty much. Form over functionality is the main thing these days, honestly people don't care about "features" as much anymore, just want a good phone with a good camera and specs.

It will become tough to buy oem batteries in a year so stock up! I Just hope my V20 doesn't slow down like my Note 3. When it slows it goes. The other issue with long term use is getting security updates.

Should be some decent aftermarket batteries out there from credible battery manufactures like anker.

Not including the DAC is an automatic fail. What is going to make them stand out from the Note? The Note is now expected to have a dual camera and much larger screen.

But if you buy one in 3 years or 4 years it will likely just be an old battery that has sat around in storage since being built this year.

Another great example of why we should keep the removable battery. These older devices are still supposed to be good even for today's standards.

I'm aware of what you are saying but my previous response still stands. I would not buy a phone for one specific feature especially not a battery. The device I choose must do several things well but first and foremost its a phone.

Totally agree with you. People who said their phone battery lasted a long time probably didn't use their phone enough, or probably upgraded every single year or earlier. I want to keep my phone for a while at least. After using Samsung S6 & S7, I felt I had more freedom with the V20, swapping batteries when needed. When the battery dies, I'll just recycle it, not trash the entire phone.
