V20 or V30?

Probably better to get a deal on the LG V20, if the LG V30 decides to lose what made it the standout phone: removable battery and durable build quality.

I agree. I just picked up a brand new Verizon v20 for my mom on eBay for $250. Much better than the 800 i paid 8 months ago

I see no need to buv v30. If I wanted all glass 2 by I dimensions I would get an S8 plus
Better screen, even if v30 goes Amoled
Imho
Not if V30 screen is flat. A flat 2/1 screen is actually bigger than one with curves on both edges.

The only reason for glass back is wireless charging.
Yeah it's pretty - but they have made waterproof phones before without glass.
P L A S T I C was used first is is MUCH better but whining brats cried it didn't look "premium" so Samsung put on nice shiny glass backs that we must cover with cases. Plastic looks premium to me. It's better than glass!

The phone doesn't seem like its any different at all except for the rounded edges (according to the latest leaks). In my opinion, the leaks make it look like LG just centered that touch bar thingy and made it look like it has an "edgeless display". If your really tired of squared edges then by all means get this phone, because it has some newer specs but its about the same size and everything and has almost the same screen location. I see nothing new. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Different than what?

I don't mean to start an argument, I was simply just throwing something out there. I could have been looking at the wrong leak of the V30 but in MY OPINION, I think it looks quite similar to the V20.

No argument here.... Just didn't know what you were comparing to.

The only time I see my battery is when I drop the phone and the cover pops off.

The V30 will have 6mb ram and better processor to help its battery. and most importantly AMOLED screen which uses far less battery than LCD. Plus no always on small screen always draining 24/7. The V30 is going to be a battery saving beast.

so i will certainly switch , especially for the waterproofing. (I live on beach in FL so its important feature I need ).
Amoled drains faster according to what i experienced. The only time it doesnt drain is when its on an app with black background. Otherwise its worse than LCD.

And they've made wireless charging phones without glass.

I'm thinking it's mostly a profit motive for the manufacturers, and a little from people that only care about looks..who in turn immediately throw it into a protective case that hides those good looks. So really, it's all about profit.

Agreed. People want beautiful phones. End of story. Real hardcore Android users will have to face this. I really don't want a $800 glass flagship but this is the way it is now.

I'm glad I have a brand new one sitting in the box on my desk.

I think that I might wait to root it and see how many updates it gets before going that route. I'll pick up another battery for it and might even spring for one of those grip handles and mounts I've seen folks talk about.

I've got 1 flagship phone to use and certainly one of the last great power user phones that should last me for a while.

I'll make a prediction about all of this..

Sometime in the future, when all of this craziness ends and people really start crying about the batteries... Someone will have a light bulb go on and come out with a brand new idea of replaceable batteries...

Whatcha all think... Lol ( iPhone 12) lol lol lol

The main issue with the V20 is that it's not available in Europe at all and I'm not keen on going with an unsupported grey import. We did get the G6 but an inferior version at a hugely marked up cost so I don't have much faith anything is going to change with the V30 and will probably not be sold here again, it was crazy not to take advantage of Samsung's massive screw up with the Note 7 particularly as the V20 is one of the few phones that's an upgrade for a Note 4.

If they could squeeze in a larger screen, keep the quad dac, replaceable battery and micro sd storage plus release it officially in the UK for a sensible price then it would probably be an ideal replacement for my Note 4. However I suspect I'm expecting too much and as my note 4 is failing at the moment, I can't really wait much longer.

I'm not so sure as most people I know aren't bothered about the battery being replaceable or not and replace the phone regularly enough that it isn't an issue for them. In general no one seems to be bothered about a lack of repairability on devices, even reviewers don't list aspects such as glued in batteries, near impossible to replace screens etc. as big negatives. Unfortunately I think those of us who think we should be able to replace the batteries and easily repair our phones and devices are a small percentage.

That said the fact some of the US states are pushing for 'right to repair' laws gives me some hope providing it's not watered down too much to the point it becomes pointless.

I know..

I hate being "That guy"... But if it wasn't all so interconnected with no tech site pushing for removable batteries and easily home repairs and all of the oems going sealed up tighter than Fort Knox with these phones.. I'd swear it was a conspiracy and a lot of collusion going on... 😕

Mac 🙈🙉🙊

It doesn't take collusion and conspiracy to see that selling new phones is more profitable than selling batteries for old phones. Still, all the "get over it" talk is just reinforcing our powerless (heh, heh) position. Keep asking for the features you want. Keep complaining about the changes you don't like. But do it where the industry and the reviewers will get the message.
