I'm strongly leaning toward buying a V20 to replace my Note 5 -- primarily because of the V20's audio performance and SD card slot. However, I do want to get an idea of whether the whole camera glass thing is just a few isolated incidents or something more widespread.

Only vote in this poll if you own a V20.

This kind of poll seems non sequitur at this point in time- Just because it has not happened yet, does not mean it will not after voting No. Too early for yes and no.

Well, sure, there will be more cases as time goes on, but there's a grand total of 3 people on the reddit summary who have shattered glass, including one person who intentionally scratched the glass for a video, plus one person on this forum.

So that's 4 cases, but there could be others. I'm just trying to get a rough order-of-magnitude measure of whether we're looking at a 1% failure rate in the first week or a 0.001% rate or a 0.000001% rate.

Can users edit the poll, if not should I hold off from voting LOL, mine is fine today but who knows what will happen tomorrow or following days.

I hate being nervous about issues like this with new phones, hope this lense cover issue is all just blown out of proportion.

Very few people that participate in this forum have reported this issue. I only recall one...possibly two and I believe that the plastic protector was removed and something hit up against the lens. As of now this is an overblown issue. The G5 also had this issue as do other phones but the numbers that break across the board are very small.

I didn't remove my plastic. I am not going to either until it gets repaired. It's bad enough it shattered but adding dirt and dust may be a deadly concoction. I'm just hoping replacing the lens will be the end to the little distortion the shattered glass had created.

nope, but I havent dropped it and I still have all the protective plastics on until my case comes...which will hopefully be today.

I was referring to someone else. Yes the distortion will go away if is being caused by the broken lens. When this happened to my G5 it had a line through one of the lenses and it affected the picture quality.
How did yours break?

What happened to a military grade phone?

I've had my V20 since last Friday and I've been holding back to getting off my G3 (just had to reflow the system board last night for the second time) because I was waiting on a case. Now that I got that kind of afraid the factory install screen protector is weak (seems to peel easy) and everything else on the market has horrible reviews. Going to miss tempered glass protectors. 😯

Is it me or are phones becoming more fragile?

I left the plastic film on as well. The OtterBox scares me with the large triangle cut out in the back. Hopefully they come out with a tempered glass soon, that doesn't affect the way pictures turn out.

The short answer is yes. As soon as these phones producers opted for the premium build, made phones thinner, added more glass and curved glass without bezels or install screens into excessively tight frames we are bound to see more breakage.

I don't know. It was in my purse but I found nothing that would have caused it. Repair guy told me that it may have just cracked and something could have bumped it and the stress that would make it shatter. After it cracks it doesn't take much to make it do that. It will be repaired though.

So far so good but I'm not removing the plastic.....Actually hoping a company comes out with a little tempered glass for it
