V30 camera speed

I went to an ATT store wanting a v30. I know the camera isnt highest rated but was intrigued by the dual camera setup being different than most and some of the other content creation options the phone has. One thing I am concerned about is the shutter speed, the time from pressing the camera button on screen to time the photo took seem like it had a noticeably delay. Im trying to figure out if this is standard LG, or maybe cause not pressing the button perfectly and thinking i want to use the shutter to zoom... Just seems alot slower than other phones. When taking pictures of kids seems this would be concerning.... any thoughts....

WIll try that will I go back later. Also thinking it could be related to the awkward holding of the device cause of the security cables...

I went yesterday to AT&T to look at it. They said today they'd have it. This may also be due to the shutter button you can move up and down to zoom. Could be confusing it.

I only had a few minutes to play with the phone at lunch and love just about everything else. Except the sales guying tell me how much it sucks and trying to sell me a note 8...or iphone 8 plus.

Verizon? Guy trying to steer you away from the rebate as company policy? LOL

Probably has HDR set to On. I would leave HDR off unless the scene really needs it.

HDR will cause a slight delay, either on AUTO or turned ON. make sure it's turned off. It's usually on by default. The new 1.6 aperture will help with lowlight, therefore increasing the focus speed because there is enough light to focus on subjects. I too however am concerned with low-light focus speed as I like to take photos indoors at night. LG wasn't well known for having a good auto mode camera, but a excellent manual mode.

Dang, bribing at it's finest. You know these guys get free/discounted stuff from manufactures in exchange for completing a product training online. Don't always take advice from retail sales guys, make your own decision through research.

I just tried mine.....it was pretty instantaneous. There was almost no perceivable lag.

This is my problem with the camera on the v20. It's so slow to focus and snap a picture in indoor lighting.

With a lot of light and a still subject you'll get quick pictures. In lower light and with a moving subject that's a different story.

When I had my 6p I liked having the HDR on for every shot because I preferred the pics I would get with it on. I would hold still for it felt like a couple seconds lol so i could get a nice shot. I guess I bring it up because for me I'd rather keep it on, not that I'm knocking anyone for preferring to keep it off.

I'm sorry to hear this. That's probably the biggest gripe I have regarding my V10 and I was really hoping that wouldn't be the case with the V30. If your subject moves in anyway, it becomes a blurred picture! The shutter speed is so much slower than iPhones.

I've not really noticed it to be slow so far. The pics I took last night at a football game were 300x better then my G3 ever took at night.

The G6 had the same issue. I had to return it because the speed was so slow. Sorry to say, it could certainly be an LG issue. The v30 has the 1.6f lens, but the sensor is undersized. What happens is people compare still photos and say it has a camera comparable with it's competition. In reality, it sucks because life isn't still. Subjects move.

Coming from a Pixel XL, the V30 camera is important for me.

I read a comment somewhere on this forum that to speed up the response, turn off HDR. On the Pixel XL, HDR is the default - I've yet to take a picture without it and I've yet to have anything but instantaneous response, regardless of the scene I am photographing.

Looking forward to info on the camera from DxOMark.

I've heard people say turn off the HDR also. It didn't help on my V10.
