Vaelpak Rom Help

I just rooted over the weekend and the first ROM I tried out was Vaelpak's new rom 1.7 with Kings BFS 9 kernel. When booted, the phone would boot loop at the HTC logo. I thought I might have messed up my root method, but I flashed Baked Snack 1.7 and it works great. Im currently using Amon Ra for backup and flashing.
I like baked, but I have heard great things aobut Vaelpak. Anyone else running into this problem with the Evo?
I then tried Vaelpak 2.0 and it would load, run for 30 seconds and then reboot or freeze. Im thinking the problem might be the preloaded kernel that comes in the ROM, or perhaps Amon Ra. Each ROM comes after a full wipe.
Any ideas?
thanks

I'm running VaelPak 2.0 with Kings BFS #8 Kernel with no trouble. It's been very stable for about a week or two now.

I'm using ClockworkMod and not Amon Ra but I have no idea if that matters.

I did a full wipe as well before installing it.

Yeah I swap back and forth between Vaelpak 2.1 and Baked Snack 1.7.... but I do use ROM manager and Clockwork recovery to do my flashing, backing up and recovery..... I have found it pretty simple, quick and easy to use.... Well worth the $4.00 for the premium version..... I can swap between the two ROM's in a matter of a minute or two.....

Have not had a single problem with either ROM rebooting or boot loops problems... Both run great and smooth....

Good Luck...

From the sounds of what your saying it sounds like you have a picky evo. I think your running into problems with the cpu speed.Your evo probably can't handle high OC speeds. To test and see if thats the problem.Download any OC app, then try to set your speeds up high when you get the point your phone locks or reboots then thats the highest speed your phone can handle. If the rom your flashing is set to OC higher then your phone can handle you will get reboots or freezes when trying to load.

Finally an answer to my problem! I posted about this a week or two ago to no avail. This sounds like it could be my issue too. I can't get any non sense ROM to flash onto my phone. Not CM6, not superevo, not vaelpak (techincally I guess that's a sense ROM). I guess that has more to do with the kernel, though, reading your post.

Another way to test but this test will cause you to have to wipe if it locks or reboots.Use setcpu check set on boot, then set your max to 122 or whatever then reboot if you get stuck then you know it will not boot at that speed. It sucks doing it this way but trial&error is great way to figure it out.

I've overclocked up to the max 1.2XX with Baked 1.7, but it runs choppy. I set it down to 1.15 and it runs very smooth.
So what your saying is that certain ROMs can, by default, overclock my Evo to a speed that it cannot handle, and therefor will reboot over and over.
If that is the case, is there a way to overcome this and still use the ROM, or are these type of ROMs off limits.

I believe it's the kernel, not the ROM that OC's, UC's, UV's, etc. So you could flash whatever ROM you want, and just flash a kernel that doesn't OC your phone (just make sure it's compatible with the ROM you choose).

BFS9 has been a dirty whore to my Evo. Sucks the life out of the battery with no remorse lol. I've switched back to BFS8 BUT BFS10 JUST came out so I'm gonna check that out now. Did you ever get VaelPak to work? Go to his forum Vaelek's Place • Portal if you need more help.

Sorry, forgot to report back. I flashed Vaelpak 2.1 and then immediately flashed Kings BFS#6. Works great now. I guess Im one of the ones who cant run #9 effectively. Looking forward to how #10 performs. Thanks for everyones help.
