Verizon allowing early upgrades

My wifes phone is on contract for subsidized phone for 1 more month
For 1 month I wouldn't upgrade phone either just to save the $20. I have a line that is over a year out that I'm paying the extra $20 on. I could apply that to a new phone DPP instead of just giving it to Verizon. Even better if I find a free phone with credits to zero out the DPP, I would drop the $20 and get a phone.

Anyone see this not working. I'm going to research it and see what it looks like. Guessing theirs some sort of clause that will prevent this from happening.

A year out is perfect but what phone is worth buying right now? I would wait for new LG G6 or Sammy 8 or iPhone 8.

By then the early upgrade would probably be over.

Just checked.. You still have to pay the $40 month to the end of contract. I knew it was to good to be true. LOL

LG G5 for $120 is worth it, use it for a trade later.
Last I heard the V20 only worth 200 in trade so G5 won't be worth much "later" although it is a nice little phone. It's too bad they went with modular nonsense. If it had a 5.5 inch screen I never would have waited for v20.

Unless it's listed in a special trade-in offer.

Interesting

Interesting indeed... but I'm also extremely confused... my 2-year contract on a basic phone line ends in September 2018. but look at what Best Buy's website is telling me in this screenshot.

(1)
what is going to happen to my plans on 9/1/2018? are they going to force me to another plan?

(2)
How is going form $9.99 to $20 considered "lower" ???

(3)
if I accept this offer, does my line become contract free and the ETF waived?

(4)
my primary line is not eliglble for this upgrade and it's still on UDP with contract ending November 2018. if I upgrade line 2 using this offer, will I lose UDP on the primary line?

(5)
if I accept this offer and do a 24-month DPP, what will happen if I pay off the DPP balance in a couple of months?

Make sure to read the terms. In the past you had to turn in your current phone when you where in contract and did dpp

In the OP's post#1, the picture clearly showed that Verizon did NOT want the old phone... :) (the 2nd picture)

No wonder... I didn't see any pictures in the OP. Probably a Tapatalk issue. Thanks for clarifying though.

What is Tapatalk?

any thoughts as to the part where it says Verizon will waive the cancellation fee(ETF) on the remaining 2-year contract? Thanks!

oh wow! my order just shipped. I logged into my Verizon account and my contract end date has completely been removed. It now only shows 24 months of Device Payment Plan @ $3.50 each. (yes, because Best Buy was running a $5/month DPP just for the old LG G5... $3.50 because it asked for 30 percent downpayment of $36, so the monthly DPP payment is reduced to $3.50.

I can't believe it... I have never seen Verizon offering cancellation of ETF when customer upgrades using DPP. (subsidized phone purchased with 2-year contract still has 20 months to go) So if I pay off the $84 DPP balance, I'll be free and clear? (which was much cheaper than paying the original ETF of $350!

Hmm. Can you provide your new plans details? I'm curious about the line access charge. Thanks.

I was not asked to choose a new plan. Best Buy's order summary showed keep existing plan.

My account is on the old 700-minute plan because line 1 is still under contract with UDP. Line 2(which I just used to do this Best Buy upgrade) is the same $30 2gb data plan. Nothing on my account changed, except that the 20-month contract has not been removed free of charge(no ETF, yay!), courtesy of Verizon and Best Buy.
