Ok so I just went to the VZW store here (big corporate store, very nice) and was told they can't activate it until tomorrow...that they physically can't, they tried...but their system won't let them until tomorrow. AND they wouldn't bring out any cases or screen protectors because they said they can't even bring them out on the floor until tomorrow. Normally this is a great store, but i guess they are following the rules a little TOO closely for my taste.

SO, has anyone activated their Inc using the online/phone activation?

Call 611 from another Verizon phone for Customer Service.. They will do it for you. I did it yesterday.

purchase mine online... arrived an hour or so ago... activated over the phone/air without any issues.

ahh, glad to hear it! i'll do that now. BUT i have to go back tomorrow to transfer my contacts because i'm coming off a dumb phone with no data plan and i'm too cheap to pay for downloading the back up assist program....is there another way to do that?

I don't know what phone you are downloading from, but they should be able to do that at the store, free of charge. If not try using Verizon Backup assistant, which has been pushed on a numch of Verizon's phones over the past couple of weeks.

yes but they can't do it in the store for me until tomorrow, so that's no big deal...i just don't want to pay to download the program.

VZW makes stuff up as they go. I'm stuck in Customer Service Hell and they won't re-ship my incredibles until tomorrow because they 'think' they aren't allowed to do that yet. Even when I say half the internet has already received theirs, they think they can't do it.

It never ceases to amaze me what baloney they make up as it enters their heads.

free if you view your bill online, etc.

Backup assistant is free if you signup for online access to your account. It doesn't cost anything to download it...

You and I are on the same boat... Gawd I hope I get it tomorrow, but I doubt it because I didn't pay for Overnight.

I had to call Cust Svc to activate mine because I ordered the Incredible against another line and then confused the system trying to move phones around within my acct. The lady I spoke with was surprised as hell that I had my Incredible already, but had not problem activating it. Up and running and all is well.

Verzion now charges $20 to transfer contacts.. Which is total crap since they have the equiptment and it takes a mere 40 seconds.. When I asked why they said because "it can easily be done by the user" I call B.S.

They have the option to waive it for individuals, but not business accounts.

I almost went in and was gonna see about it in person but I figured it gives me a chance to familiarize myself with the phone. I only had like 30 to input so it wasn't TOO bad.
