Verizon rolls out $20 entry-level smartphone data plan - Washington Business Journal
Now the company has announced that starting Thursday, new and existing Verizon Wireless customers in D.C., Maryland and Virginia will be able to add a 300 megabyte data plan to their smartphone or basic phone for just $20 monthly access when added to a voice plan. It's a promotion that will run through Sept 30. Verizon (NYSE: VZ) said the new data plan is in line with its strategy to attract more wireless customers to try the smartphones.
Verizon believes that some customers are not transitioning to smartphones because they?re afraid of the higher cost of both the phone and the data plans.
