Verizon family data share plan pricing info

Think we can get out of big reds clutches via breach of contract on this? I have three lines, mine is up for renewal july 7th. When I go upgrade my phone they will tell me i have to change my plan on all three lines, or cough up 700 for the unsubsidized phone. Is this enough to be able to walk away from all three contracts? This is bull . I have four gigs and unlimited at sixty and this is what they offer me to switch to? ing irate right now.

No they will just make your line buy the capped individual data. The option to retain your unlimited data feature will be gone.

The Data Share plans are an option to the current Family plans.

No, because they will tell you that you can "upgrade" to 2GB for $30 for your new phone, which will not affect the other phones/contracts :(

Edit: +1 to what WhoMe said, we had the same idea to respond :)

Did you see the overage charges? $15/300 MB!

Exactly. Everyone is calculating based on different tiers of data. But there is going to be overages. Sharing data? Are you effing kidding?

Forget ever using streaming apps again.

How's t mobile?

Thing is, I get to decide what is good enough, not them. I wont take 2 gb, and I wont pay full price. I signed up for new every two and they can either honor that or let me walk. They offer the double your data rate of 4gb and I might think about staying. I'm sure there are plenty of other people out there in the same boat as me, think its time to join up and call a lawyer if they won't let those of us unhappy with their offers walk from any secondary lines on a family plan where the main line is up for renewal. Why should they be able to have it both ways? I either have to pay the same for a hell of a lot less, or sign up for a terrible ing plan and renew for two years? Or I can have the privilege of coughing up full price for a phone (I signed up for new every two for a reason...) and keeping what I have until they decide not to honor it anymore. This is horse , plain and simple.

We all need to smother Verizon with complaints. I'm going to start on Facebook Page. We need to tell everyone we know to send in complaints as well. We should educate our friends/family on this before they go to upgrade their device and get raped.

The hell with complaining to them, better business bureau might be the way to go. I want out. Will not pay the ETF to get there, they changed the rules and I'm not paying to play there game. I'll gladly sign on with sprint who has 4g service in my area and seems to be making a push forward with coverage.

I'll be all over sprint as soon as they have decent LTE in my area. That is only if they keep their unlimited data... That is a big IF......

I was under the impression that the New Every Two discount was gone. Has been gone for awhile in fact; unless you still havent used the one you had left from before.

The sad truth is, once your contract is up they can change everything. They are betting there wont be a mass exodus because either the others are just as costly or just not as good.

Same thing Verizon has been doing for years. They push the market for every single inch it can spare.

Well I guess I won't be upgrading my phones anymore. Just upgraded to the Razr ( two of them, the wife & I ) . I have 5 smartphones, 4 of them 4g on unlimited data and the 5th one a 3g phone with 2 gb data. It only cost me 202.69 (taxes & fees included) last month. None of their new data share options would even get me anywhere near that.

When they eventually decide to end my special promo pricing for data then I will decide if I want to stay and deal with what they are offering or look elsewhere. I just wish thier price of $40 for smartphone access were a little lower. Well I guess things eventually change sometimes not for the better though.

I'm obv in the minority, but me and wife could go from $165 currently to $140 with the 2GB plan (currently use a little less than 1GB per month). Thus this is a big win for me.

I wonder how it works if only 1 phone is out of contract. I wonder if I could bargain my way to get full discounts on both phones if we switched both phones over? Or would the upgraded phone just have to stay on an inidividual plan until I'm done with contract on the other one?

It has been gone, I have one left on my line up july and would love to leave given their new pricing, however I have two other lines (one being carried simply because the ten a month is cheaper than the ETF) and would have to pay the ETF to do so. If I sign the new data share nonsense I'm carrying thirty a month for that dead line...
I'm all set to abandon ship and jump on sprint, I will not give these leeches another 270 in order to do that, they made the choices to kneecap data (these new plans are living proof) and I'm not playing their game.

Sprint will be in the neighborhood of verizon soon enough, if they can get their 4g system up quickly I think more people will be jumping ship than a lot of people think right now.

It doesnt seem much different than the text message change that allowed so many people to terminate the contract years ago. smart phones and data go hand in hand. If I was the only one on my line the point would be moot, however my fiance's line isnt up for another year and the third line is up in a few months.

This seems only worth it if you are on the lower end of the spectrum, if you use a lot of data you will get charged a lot of money...

Not always.

I use less than 2Gbs, mostly because of wifi and didn't have a 4G phone until just now (and still, no 4G signal where I live)

I currently pay $75 before discounts for unlimited data. Assuming I can stay under 2Gb in the future, my bill would jump to $100. Basically they are forcing me to get mobile hot spot (and if I were to use it, 2b would easily be blown out)

Glad I'm locked in for 2 years

I love how they are marketing this like it's what we wanted. 'finally the shared plans are here! "

No verizon, we wanted to share that unlimited plan we had to buy 3 of in 2010. Not be stuck trying to manage data use on 3 lines, hoping to not go over our one shared gig.

OK, went over all the numbers again and to do 3 smartphones, 2 feature phones, and 1 tablet, it's cheaper for us to stick to the 700 min family voice+text with 3 $30 data plans. I already have unlimited, which I get to keep for a while, and the other two will have 2GB. This will be $40 cheaper than switching to the new plan, and the difference is in the feature phone access charges.

Complain? Why? They're not making you do anything unless you buy a phone at a discount. BBB can't do anything because you're the one choosing to agree or not agree by signing a contract. Other than that, people's plans stay the same.

The data buckets are horrible.

Current usage, my wife and I could get away with the 4GB plan but if the iPhone picks up real 4G LTE on the next version, I expect her usage to catch up to mine.

Exactly. If you hate it so much, walk away and be loud about it.

If you stay, it won't matter how much you're complaining. Verizon still gets your money.
