My Verizon Note 8 Pre-order shipped this morning. I will have it in hand on the 5th of September!!

Yup, seems Verizon is shipping them out!
I also received a notice that my Note8 has shipped, is currently in Pa, and will be delivered to me by 8pm on Tuesday, Sept. 5th!!!

Yes. Verizon LTE phones are unlocked right out of the box.

Upside: I just got an email from big red saying it shipped and will be delivered on the 5th.
Downside: that's the day after we leave to be gone for a week.

you can always be the gambling type and have it rerouted to deliver to where you're going on vacation or where you're traveling to. We are going on vacation starting tomorrow for about a week I am on TMobile and I've been checking my status pretty often mine is still waiting for UPS it has not physically picked up yet

Verizon usually doesn't allow this. They have FedEx require 1 attempt at the house before any holding/re-routing is allowed.

Well I'm sorry to hear that. But if you're going to be home anyway I suppose it doesn't matter.

I checked my UPS and I am able to have it held for pickup at a UPS location.
