That solution has been mentioned frequently - go to Settings -> My device (if you're using the Tab view) -> Accessibility, scroll down until you find "Flash notification". Select that checkbox, then deselect it, and the problem should go away.

Why is that? Do you like to do factory reset? Is there an advantage after a factory reset?

I always factory reset before and after major FW updates. It's habit, because I've always had a host of issues applying major updates without resetting the device on Android phones. I've had the same issues with HTC, Samsung, and Motorola phones so it is not device specific. Things simply do not work well for me most of the time if I don't reset the device. The last Motorola I had had tons of BT issues (not connecting, dropping connection, etc.) without resetting.

Samsung phones I've gotten tons of app FCs, severe lags, etc.

So, for the past couple of years, I have made it a habit to reset, and each time my phone ran like a new phone after I installed the update.

Almost all of the issues voiced in this thread are foreign to me, because I've never seen them on my phone. It runs as well as it always has, if not better, after the update.

Google needs to develop a better upgrade/app backup mechanism for Android, IMO. That way users don't have to worry about losing game save data, etc. iOS users largely don't have to worry about that since Apple uses iCloud for much of that and after a reset the phone will simply synch the app data back down to the phone.

There's a difference between being ignored and not receiving an answer: your previous post deals with Facebook, and since I don't use Facebook I can't be of any assistance. My only comment would be - have you looked at the ratings for the Facebook app? 3.8 - what a POS! I won't install anything that is rated less than 4.0.

Your previous question (post #218 ) was almost immediately followed by another post (#224) which made a reply unnecessary.

Finally, your Facebook issue is probably not specifically related to the Verizon 4.3 update, so you could create a new thread in the main forum focused on that and hopefully with a Subject that includes Facebook you'll get the responses you're looking for. Or you could email the Facebook folks (android-support@fb.com) and see what kind of answer you get.

Play Store Ratings are a worthless metric for an app as old as Facebook, which has seen huge revamps and revisions over the year. Play Store does not allow you to siphon out the ratings given for very old versions and view only the ratings for the latest version the way iTunes App Store does.

So that comment would have come across as a bit clueless to many people.

Facebook is 3.9 Rating, and has been there for a lot longer than Google+, which can only manage a 4.1 and routinely costs people real $ by burning through their data plans overnight.

and still get a good idea of whether it's worth downloading.

My S3 will auto reboot every time I access the clipboard. If I access the clipboard through the stock keyboard by tapping and holding microphone/setting button then tapping on clipboard the phone will freeze and autoreboot. If I go to a blank text field of any program press and hold to bring up the paste and clipboard buttons and I select clipboard the clipboard will appear. If I am lucky I can select something to paste. However it will freeze and my phone autoreboots.

I have cleared partition cache and still issue. I plan on clearing partition cache again and factory reset when I have time tomorrow.

In the meantime, please access the clipboard by the above 2 methods and see if your phone does the same. Report back if you have issues. Curious on if this is widespread or just me.

Did you try clearing the system cache in Recovery mode?

If you open the Phone app and long press in the blank space, does the Clipboard come up (and potentially allow you to select the 'Clear' button) or does it reboot right away?

If none of this helps you should consider a Factory Reset (after backing up your important data, of course).

I am a little late to the party. However I waited until earlier this month to update.

Quite literally I wish I could roll back.

Jelly Bean 4.3 is the Android version of "update" as to Microsoft ME is to "update"

I am not kidding stay on the sidelines for this one.

There is absolutely positively *ZERO* reason to update, there is *zero* value with anything in this new version. It is nothing but a new Samsung bloatware.

You have been warned, and if you know how I can flash back to 4.2.1 I would be most gracious. *NOT KIDDING*

So i figured out how to take that annoying missed call and message notification off of your lockscreen. Go to the play store and download a app called lockscreen policy. Once downloaded it will lead you to how to take that notification off your lockscreen immediately. Hope this helps!

I have efs partition backup .. my flash counter : 41 so i am a super user .... but when i restore it on 4.3 i get unknown baseband and unknown imei !!!
I must run 4.1.2 to have my imei back ... i can't update !

why would you want to update when 4.3 is such a pain in the ***/straightjacket?

i'm thinking about rolling back to 4.1 by following the link here and rooting my piece of crap S3. won't support for these phones end soon anyway?

i'd rather be stuck with an unsupported S3 on 4.1 than 4.3 or the next debacle Verizon/Samsung force on us! (if our lords and masters at the-Kingdom-of-Verizon-shall-rule-over-you-and-you-will-like-it! eventually see fit to bestow it upon us!) (or everyone other carrier/phone gets it first, whichever comes last)

1. Where did clipboard go? It use to be next to my space bar. I can highlight the button and it let's me change it to handwriting, full stop, etc but no clipboard.

2. Where is the "turn off all sounds" widget? I have assisting light and mono/audio still.

I assume that you're using the stock Samsung keyboard?

I'm not aware of a setting to make it go away or enable it.

2. Where is the "turn off all sounds" widget?

Why don't you just use the Sound item in the Notification bar pull-down?

Hi, I updated to 4.3 a couple weeks ago when my dad did, just so I would be familiar with it and be able to help him out. While his phone is fine, mine restarts 1-2 times a day, and just this past week, my mobile data usage has been through the roof! I don't leave mobile data on, I use WiFi whenever possible. I keep track of my data usage with 3G Watchdog, and it told me that within 2 days (our billing cycle started 2/19) I used 38% of my 1GB! I normally use 38% in a month. I had mobile data on for maybe 20 minutes max in those 2 days. I browsed Facebook, and sent a couple emails.

Does anyone have any advice? I contacted Samsung per Verizon's advice, and they told me to try and wait it out until KitKat 4.4 came out. My dad and I both have the S3. The rep from Samsung discouraged me from doing a Factory Reset because if it's a software issue, the Factory Reset won't do anything.

i have a copy of samsung galaxy s4 GT- I9500 .When i call a contact number or when they call me , even though i set up a photo as contact photo , nothing appear when they are calling me.. Also, it vibrates alll the time when i touch back or menu button , even though i have disabled vibration : settings--my device--audio profiles--general --vibrate on touch ( close) ... could anyone help me please, what should i do?? Thank you !

I would advise you to ignore their advice about waiting for 4.4 and about not performing a Factory Reset.

First and easiest thing to try is to reboot into Recovery mode and clear the system cache.

If that doesn't help then by all means go ahead with a Factory Reset. You can install Kies v3 on your computer to backup your important information, then perform the reset, then use Kies to restore what you need.

Did you also look in Settings -> My device -> Sound, and uncheck 'Haptic feedback'?
