Ah I see. Yeah, there was an update to the article.

And there was this comment:

You're confusing "developer edition" with "Google Play Edition". The Developer Edition GS5 on Verizon will still have Touchwiz, but it'll have an unlockable bootloader and will be a most "vanilla" Touchwiz experience without all the Verizon-specific changes and bloatware.
