Verizon Galaxy S6 jumps from 4G to 1X when making a call.

You would be fine,so long as you aren't upgrading on contract. I have added and removed premium voicemail, roadside assistance, texting package and probably other things too and unlimited data is fine.

Just don't change your data package on the line and you will be fine making changes to any other feature.

Thank you! I appreciate you having somebody help me out with this. I just don't want to lose my unlimited data plan as I use about 7 gigs a month. Also just to give you an idea, my LTE signal strength is fluctuating around: -75 bPm 64 asu so the LTE strength doesn't seem to be an issue. So if you can find someone to confirm that removing the ringback tone charge won't kick me off unlimited data, than I will turn on advanced calling and see if it fixes my issue.

Thanks for all your help!

While at home, my s6 drops to 1x during a call but it does not effect call quality at all. I get a pretty weak LTE signal at the house, so if I switch to Advanced Calling I get dropped calls.

The 1x is really not a big deal at all. Just don't look at the status bar and you will never know.

Most do not like it mainly due to the data not being usable while on a phone call.

Data isn't a big deal for me while I'm talking. I do have wifi at the house, so I guess that would cover it anyway.

For sure. I just meant most want mobile data and calls and that's the biggest thing with it.

You may want to check with VZ, if you are not on a more everything plan hd voice is not free. I may be wrong but I would check with them before switching.

It is a free add on.

Just FYI:
This is a VERIZON S6 issue, not a Galaxy S6 issue. I just switched (last night) from AT&T to Verizon with the exact same phone and was able to use my S6 as it was designed, with voice/data at the same time, but with Verizon, I can only do this with the enabled Advance Calling (mine won't enable) or while connected to Wifi (we don't have home internet). I was able to use both on my AT&T phone - but AT&T sucks here. Guess I'm restricted until they get my phone's advanced calling feature fixed.

Just don't want to see anyone dissing the Samsung Galaxy S6 when it's not the phone's issue.

I don't think anyone was blaming the phone. I explained earlier in the thread this is a CDMA issue.

Yes same problem here since I got the phone. Called customer service 5 times and now have my 2nd phone which is doing the same thing. The most annoying part is when you receive a phone call when using navigation and loose the network for navigation. You need to restart the phone after hanging up to re-establish the 4G to know where your going. HORRIBLE!!! What is the point of having the best processor out there if you can't use it cause of the lack of network connection. Even better when verizon doesn't have an answer or know the problem exists. I've wasted over 9 hours trying to deal with this problem. I need to start billing them

And and by the way I have WIFI at work and at home and even when the phone says its connected I have the same problem.

I would stop wasting your time on the phone with them. This is a technology issue -- nothing they can do except for you to turn on Advanced Calling.

You don't loose the feature dude, you need to ADD Share Name ID, it's what replaced it.

Do some work or just have, you know, the rep do it for you.

And like everyone else stated, HD Voice & Video calling need to be enabled. You didn't set your account up correctly.

The latest update claims that Caller Name ID now works with Advanced Calling, did it work for anyone ?

It has nothing to do with Sim cards, updates or Advanced calling.. It's the way the phone was built.. The new antenna and the glass and metal.. Samsung screwed up and I am anti iPhone all the way that won't change. I love my S6 features fast processor, camera is great, finger print scanner wireless charging all great. I had a galaxy s5, and my wife had the S4 we both got the the S6 and now from our house and many other locations we have the same issue as you. It's hardware and unfortunately I'm stuck with it until I can find a phone with all of the other features that I love about the S6 AND a signal that works..

FYI - I found this thread today when my new S6 had the same problem. It also was hanging up before first ring on an outgoing phone call, and people who called were told my phone was not working.

I had stuck my iPhone sim card in the phone a day prior (day we bought the S6's). As soon as Verizon swapped our iPhone numbers onto the SIM cards that came with the S6 phones, and reactivated the advanced calling features I've not had one issue.

Hopefully this helps someone down the road.

Unfortunately I am having the same issue with terrible reception and dropped calls. I also can't surf while on a call. Read that I needed to activate HD Calling and it disabled my ring back tone feature.... I called Verizon and they said it's a glitch and will be fixed in the next update. Doubt it! Going back to my s5!
