Verizon getting ripped apart on FaceBook

Actually, I love my job. I love the industry, I love the devices, I love the technology. I've been with the company for nearly five years and it's been the most successful of my life. If Verizon Wireless (not Best Buy) had said the world would stop and this phone would be released on such and such a date, I would have empathy. I would even be happy to give out information in that situation. But Verizon Wireless has issued no such date. So get over it.

that's the kind of customer support I want in a company! I hope you don't talk to customer's like that.

Get over it? really? so you want everybody that is frothing at the mouth for this phone to get over it? as in not buy it? as in switch companies and stop dropping money into verizon monthly for bills and sometimes twice a year for phone?

you should be trying to calm people down, not by making false promises but by empathizing (whether you want to or not). say yes, it sucks you had to wait so long but I really hope this hasn't affected your desire to get this phone blah blah blah. but instead you say what? Get over it? you, good sir, are the DUMBEST customer service rep EVER.

now, kindly STFU

Wow. Gonna have to call BULL on this thread on TWO counts. I was told last week at a corporate store by two employees that launch was the 24th. In an earlier statement, Wireless Vet said that stores hadn't given a release date.

Secondly, ZERO calls? Not buying this for a second. Look at the twitter feed, the facebook page, and Googles search trends. There is NO WAY you haven't gotten at least ONE call for this phone.

I swear in any court of law. I work Monday-Thursday and Saturday. After working yesterday, still not one inquiry regarding this phone. You have to understand, even though this website and all the other sites associated with it (PreCentral and Crackberry, etc) are very popular, it still makes up a relatively small percentage of users. Most of our calls regarding smartphones are either the iPhone or people taking advantage of the great pricing on the pre owned smart phones. We've all seen the Thunderbolt, most of us got to play with it at our sales kick off at the beginning of February.

As of yesterday, there still has been no official release date given to us, no matter what anyone has told you in any store.

If you are going to switch companies because of a phone then I would refrain from calling anyone else dumb.

This whole thing got out of hand after Best Buy announced imminent release, took pre-orders and failed to deliver, albeit due to reasons out of their hands (as they have been saying). But no official statement or apologies or explanation from Best Buy (OR Verizon though technically VZW never announced a date) made matters worse. On top of that contradicting "confirmations" of future dates reportedly coming from different store employees/managers have only added fuel to the fire.
Meanwhile all this is driving some of us insane. I am trying to patiently wait for the release whenever it is. Frustration seems to have gotten better of some members of this forum and honestly I don't blame them although it would be nice to remain civil while agreeing to disagree.

The whole thing I wish people would get in to their heads is nothing is official until VZW says it is. Although I enjoy all the information this website and all of the other websites affiliated provide, the hysteria they create by providing leaked photos of phones months upon months before they are released causes more problems than you can imagine. I went through this time and time again with Blackberry. Another thing people don't realize is, although this particular phone may be popular with enthusiasts, it's really one of many in the 4G category that are coming this year. For instance, when the BB Storm2 was released, Crackberry was full of all the same insanity. I tried to tell people that although they were excited for it to come along, there would be no pomp and circumstance regarding that phone. One day it showed up at the stores and went on the shelves for sale with little to no fanfare. The Thunderbolt holds much more clout, but still, it's not going to be any earth shattering introduction. The big introduction came during the Las Vegas show. The information given at that time was second quarter. We aren't even 2/10ths through the first quarter. So a release soon (which I'm sure it will be) is earlier than VZW originally said. Not BG, not Engadget, VZW.

Today 2/27/11. BB. has they flyer out and the thunderbolt is in it for $299 it makes it looks like have it for sale when they dont.If you call BB they say its Varizon has to tell them when it will come out.No one knows when it will.

I've said this in another thread, and I'll say it again here. When I walk up to a a VZW CORPORATE store and ask "Is the Thunderbolt still a big secret, or..." and two employees say "24th!" in unison, I have a reasonable expectation that they are correct. Imagine what a jackwagon I would look like at that point if I said "Really? So you have a press release? Can you get the CEO on the phone so I can verify this?"

This happens all the time, everyday. You see a standee for a movie, video game and you ask the nearest employee when it comes out. They tell you, they are right, and you move along. Verizon employees should be as tight lipped as Corporate, because you're right, nothing is official until Verizon says it is, and they ARE Verizon to 99.99% of the public. If one of them had said "You don't need a Thunderbolt, you need a shave and a haircut, you pig" and kicked me until I was unconcious and bleeding from every orifice, it would be Verizon sending me that big check.

You miss the point. People are not getting antsy because of rumors on AC, BGR or Engadget. Such rumored dates have appeared on these sites for other phones too but those have not caused "mass hysteria". It was caused when "the sole national retailer" Best Buy announced a "mid-February" date and published ads (in their weekly circulars as well as other weekly magazines like "People") labeling Thunderbolt as "new" and NOT as "coming soon".

I am one of those anxious customers though I have not been very demanding and vocally militant. And once again, I don't blame those who are.

For some, like me, there is a constraint of a certain window period. I picked up a "loaner" phone from BBY on the 17th with the anticipation of 24th release which BBY reps all but confirmed. Now I only have a 30-day exchange window, the deadline for which would be 3/19. If Bolt does not drop before that I am screwed - stuck with the phone I do not really want. That is why I am heading to BBY today to talk to the manager if they would agree to extend my exchange window until whenever Bolt actually sees the light of the day. I hope they do, because they started it in the first place. I agree VZW never announced the date but a consumer like me, an announcement from the so-called "only authorized national retailer" is equally credible and official.

Did I say I was switching companies? No, work on your reading comprehension skills before you try to sound so snide.

But, I should except as much from verizon's apparently rudest CS rep. Way to stand tall for your company once again!

Wireless Vet, you should get a special commendation or even a hefty raise from VZW for standing up for your employers so vehemently :)

Im switching carriers. Whats the problem with that. Att doesnt offer unlimited data. They are offering fake 4g for now. I would be dumb to stay with att. So im switching carriers for a phone.

2/10s huh? your math skills look on par with your people skills and ability to understand corporate business. hand of one, hand of all!!! do you seriously feel VZW has no duty whatsoever to come out with statement to inform the buying public as to why one of their biggest retail partners may have crossed the line and released dates unapproved by VZW. if they truly did not release a date to BB then why not say something? they could avoid all of the negativity.
