I find it interesting how many people are relying on those phone calls. At this point, there's no use calling, is there. No one knows; neither consumer nor retailer.

I can say, at least, Best Buy definitely anticipated a 2/14 release date because that's what Verizon decreed (at first). There have been Thunderbolt cases and invisibleshields in cabinets since a week before the tentative 2/14 release date.

My advice is this -
if you call a store, be it BB or VZW, and a rep says "YES the phone is coming on the 24th", ask them to see if they have a shipment of the phones. All retail stores will receive the phone a few days before the actual launch. The iP4V was in Best Buy two days before the 2/10 release date. The Inspire was three days before the launch date.
If you get a yes response, ask them if they are looking at the physical phone. If they haven't gotten a shipment of the phones by today, they are not releasing the phone by the 24th. Simple as that!

Classic. That's true though at this point. The posting I saw said something like that, except the punch line was something like "because this phone is never getting released!"

My neighbors have a kid who works at BB and just for giggles I asked him if they had any T-Bolts hiding out waiting to be sold when they get released. He said they didn't that he knew of, (he has an iPhone) but that he'd look and ask the mobile people today. He just texted me and told me they don't have any. At all.

You know, at this point I just feel sorry for the PR and marketing folks....their jobs have turned from hyping this phone to doing damage control (or doing nothing I guess) to prevent having a marred release. I mean, I realize this is why they don't put out release dates -- so that they don't have to deal with missing the dates, but that method can only work for so long when you have so many variables. One of the biggest issues I see is that in addition to John Q Public having no idea what is going on, neither do their employees/stores/dealers/retailers. If anyone could give a decent answer, and they all gave the same answer, maybe there'd be a little less frustration.

You miss the pount. All this furore is over the fact that Best Buy announced the phone, took recorders and at the end the phone did not see the light of the on the day, without explanation. If the release date of mid-February had not been announced, thungs would not have been as chaotic like this. And yes, I will be getting the phone within a few days of the release. And I have no interest in Bionic, Revolution, Sammy4G, iPhone or any other device.

I guess you meant "pre-orders" not recorders lol.

But anyway, if everyone gave their money for the phone and there is no phone, then why don't they go get their money back instead of the actions that they are taking.

That's why I never pre-order anything. I wait until I can check it out first. I don't need to have it the first day that something comes out lol.

I totally agree with you. If a specific date is not announced by the end of the month, I am going to get my money back. The reason I preordered was that the sales rep scared me by saying there will be no guarantee that there will enough phones available for walk in customers as they set aside preorders first when the shipment comes in. And I didn't want to wait for weeks like DX customers had to last year.

If a specific date isn't announced by the end of the month I'm getting the Atrix. I can't wait this long not knowing anything. I don't have a phone right now (contract with AT&T is up). If I can't the phone after my dream phone in the TBolt, then ill just get my dream phone in the Atrix.

Verizon is a bad company for non-competitive practices and pricing, in addition to over-promise and under-deliver. I'll be happy to see more phones run from them in favor of better carriers.

How are you defining "better"? In my mind, the carrier that doesn't drop telephone calls in mid-sentence and provides consistent data access and download speeds is "better" than other carriers.

Unless you just mean "cheaper".

I would rather have blazing fast 90 percent of the time and "slow" 10 percent than slow 100 percent of the time.

Also, VZW coverage is not all its cracked up to be. Sitting on my porch near a major city (within 10 miles) and I am getting zero bars and 300kbs download.

Not exactly awesome.
