Verizon HTC One (M8): In-Store Experience Not Good

Re: Verizon Store Experience - Not Good

I purchased my Wife and I Gold 5s from a different Verizon store than I usually do business with because my Verizon store didn't have two of the Gold 32gb 5s's. My experience was NOT good, the rep was more about money than helping as well as lacking in knowledge (glad I did my research). I will never purchase anything from that Verizon store again. Went to MY Verizon store to purchase my Samsung Galaxy Note3 and sevrice was stellar as usual. They don't have to worry about me cheating on them again.....SMILE

Re: Verizon Store Experience - Not Good

Uhuh,,,, yeah.... tell us BlackBerry guys about it....

They don't hire the sharpest crayons in the box at phone retailers. Some are very good, the others are like talking to a wall. Do your online research yourself and learn everything about the phones you're looking at

Poor Experience with Verizon Rep

I went today to look at the M8 and didnt have one even on display. Guy said it just came out, and i said to myself, why does that matter? He went in back to get one and handed it to me but said dont take the wrapping off. I looked at him funny and just took it off anyways.lol . Then as I proceeded to power it up, he says dont power it up cuz HTC is funny about their SIM card when you first power phone up. I said look dude, i'm willing to pay full retail here and you expect me not to turn the phone on and check it out? Then he proceded to tell me that full retail was $750. I looked at Verizon website and it plain as day shows a price of $599.99 off contract. WTF BRO? I also looked at the LG G2 phone and that really is a nice phone as well. I'm torn now what to get???

At my store I personally log each live demo smartphone into our store's gmail account and I set up Google now as well. I make sure all of the apps are up to date. Unfortunately in my area 90% customers could care less what the manufacturer is or the unique features. They hear "Samsung" from a friend and and just come in and ask for one, not knowing there's way more out there.

Whenever I have people like you guys walk in it definitely brightens my day. :)

Re: Went to Verizon to look at the phone, rep was a ******

Verizon reps aside, the m8 is a pretty damn nice phone. I haven't actually held a g2 but I know they are good phones as well.

My opinion get the m8, you won't be disappointed

Re: Went to Verizon to look at the phone, rep was a ******

Not unusual. I used to work for Verizon, they are typically very misinformed store reps. Give it a few more days or try another store. The phone looks amazing. Check out Youtube for reviews on the camera, that seems to be the biggest gripe so far.

Re: Went to Verizon to look at the phone, rep was a ******

Dont worry, Verizon employees are not as informed as most......some of them are great but most are very idiotic.

When I bought mine on launch, I walked in and the greeter asked me what i wanted and i said " I WANT AN HTC M8 FULL PRICE"

He then set me up with a woman who tried to sell me 100 different things. I told her i wanted the phone full price ( looked at me crazy) and the DOT VIEW CASE which was displayed on the phone, and some screen protectors............

waited 10 mintues for atleast 4 four people searching everywhere for the DOT VIEW CASE. It was never shipped. Was offered to buy, TO BUY, a different case and trade the case back in when the DOT VIEW came in...What lololololol. Im not stupid. Verizon wouldnt take a traded in case....and a different employee and he said they wouldnt......Well anyways....

Im crazily in love with my phone which should have taken 10 minutes to buy instead of an hour. Also randomly, the Verizon employee called me the next day to ship me my DOT VIEW to my address, which will be arriving tomorrow. Most not all employees at corps act like they know about everything but really dont, they want to sell the accessories because they dont make any money off of guys like me who buy phones straight up. They tried vigorously to get me to do the EDGE plan.......I said " why in the world would i give you my phone which i bought outright for 500 for free and still have to buy another phone and pay for it over the months in a plan? Ill buy this HTC ONE M8 and sell my old one and make money off of it."......They hate that.

Re: Verizon Store Experience - Not Good

Sorry to hear that. When I picked up my note 3 using in store pickup, the wait was around 20 minutes.

But put it this way, at least they can't claim that they don't have any in stock. If you went in without in store pickup, there isn't much you can do if they say they don't have any

Yeah, I'm certainly not slamming the idea of reserving in-store. I also saved $60 which is awesome.

On a positive note, I went into a different Verizon store this evening to buy a dot-view case and the staff was very nice there.

Might make more commission on a DROID sale.

You went to a authorized dealer. It's not a corporate store. Completely different.

Re: Went to Verizon to look at the phone, rep was a ******

I had a similar experience to Alleyviper13, which I posted about in another thread last night. I added a line and actually reserved the phone online for in-store pickup. When I went to pick it up they tried to get me on Verizon Edge as well, which I told them absolutely not. They tried to tell me I was stupid essentially, since I would save money over time. I cut them off quickly by telling them I do mathematics for a living and I was sure of the option most beneficial to me. Then they tried to sell me every accessory except the one I wanted which was the dot-view case. They also did not have the case in-stock at the store I went to.

The same thing happened when I bought my Note 3 in November. On that occasion I went in and bought the phone for full-price, and as you mentioned, they really really hate when you do that!

so how can he try to say the phone costs $750?? when the site shows $599.99

I was told by an ex verizon employee that the reps get paid more for accessories than selling the phones themselves. Which is why they push the random different things in stores.

Re: Went to Verizon to look at the phone, rep was a ******

I was really put off by Verizon yesterday because they had no paper info/materials for me to take with me. I asked for a list of plans and they boasted that they're "paper free" and it's all online now. When I told him that their site was glitching for the past hour and I couldn't even put the phone in my online cart, his mouth literally hung open and the reps didn't know what to tell me. So, they ended up hand-writing the plan options and such on the back of a contract form. They were nice and all but I'm considering just sticking with ATT...

I am thinking title of your post is about the wrong person.

Re: Poor Experience with Verizon Rep

I did an online chat with Verizon and I was told that each store could set their own pricing, that may be why? anyone else heard of this? when i buy this or the LG G2 next week i will visit the corporate store instead.

Things like this truly amaze me. As a retail worker, I know that we cannot be completely informed about every product in the store, but at least know that the product is on display in YOUR store lol. How could he tell you that there were no models in the store, when there actually was? Makes no sense. Anyway, I don't think every Verizon store is like this (I'm an unfortunate Sprint customer), but I would email whoever is in charge of complaints to get that sorted out.
