Will you be switching to the iPhone?

Does the iPhone have a 4.3 inch screen? HDMI out that mirrors? A replaceable battery, so I have the option of an extended battery? Is there a fully rugged case available for it? No? Then no, I'm not swapping an EVO or my carrier to become a DRONE instead of a DROID.

iPhone has Outterbox cases for it, fully rugged.

but you forgot one thing, iTunes, pain in the ass.

Waiting 5 Years for iPhone

Coming from a disastrous line of Android Phones (Droid and Galaxy S) I am going to be camping out in line for the Verizon iPhone on Feb 10th. I've had Verizon long before the iPhone came out, I cannot switch to ATT because they have no service where I live. I started with a Blackberry (don't even get me started on that) then I moved to Android. iPhone is superior to Android in every which way possible. Compare the two side by side you'll see that Apple has just put more heart and effort into their OS than Google can even dream about. People say Android is more open but realistically how many consumers are going to want to change the software on their phone anyway. The reason iOS isn't very open is because it doesn't need to be. Unlike Android iOS is so well built it doesn't need to be modified, and in the little areas it does theres a jailbreak for that (jailbreaking an iPhone takes 10 minutes while rooting an Android takes 4 hours). If it's anything from the apps which are much more functional, better looking and cheaper to Safari which is the worlds most advanced mobile browser iPhone has any Android phone beaten ten fold. iOS just has a better UI, browser, app store, multitasking you name it

The only reason Android has dome so well is because Verizon customers like me had no choice but to go with Android, but now that I and many have a choice of a superior device (iPhone) we will see Android really compete with iOS. And I don't think it'll be pretty for Android

To each their own. Some people like Android devices, some people like Apple devices and some people like Blackberry devices. One device is not superior than others no matter what anyone says. It all comes down to one's personal preferences and daily needs.

One thing they I dont understand is how you said rooting takes 4 hours. I'm not saying that your wrong but I just dont know which phone you used that took that long to root. I've rooted the original Droid and the Droid incredible and they might have taken tops 20 min(this included reading the directions on how to do it).

Good luck with your iPhone. I hope you have better luck with it than you've had with Android.

4 hours? It took me less then 5 minutes to root my phone. Install zip file and wait for phone to boot back up.... not very complicated.

I'll switch to *phone when hell freezes over. iOS is the most annoying operating system I have ever used on a smartphone and being limited to just having icons left and right is totally unappealing. Live widgets beat static icons any day.

:D..........:D..........:D

Guys please settle down. This thread's topic is about who will be switching to the iphone not about what you dont like about it.

Like I said, everybody has their own preferences for devices. some people like the way the iphone's home screen looks (I'm not one of those people). They dont use widgets and dont like live wallpapers. If that's the case then an iphone might be for them.

Please dont continue on with debates regarding which OS is better because opinions are not concrete facts.

I've played with an iPhone before...it's just not what I need in a phone. I had a blackberry...while I enjoyed it, it also wasn't what I need in a phone. Now I have my Devour, and I couldn't be happier. It does what I need, and I'm thinking about rooting it...but I don't know. But anyway...I'll be sticking with Android devices. :)

NEVER! Love my Nexus. iPhone is EVIL and soon the world will see it. Even TiPb knows that Steve Jobs and Apple are evil.

I won't be switching. I have a iPod touch and iOS just seems too simplistic and uncompromisable for my liking. I love my rooted Droid Incredible and the recent revelation that the iPhone tracks you everywhere you go killd what little chance there was of me ever joining the Cult of Apple.

Switched to the vz iphone a few days ago, after using a Dinc for the past year (and a Droid for a few months before that). There are many things I miss about Android/HTC (the Dinc keyboard being the main thing... iphone keyboard sucks), but I'm not regretting the switch. Iphone is the perfect size phone for me, though I understand there are many folks out there who like the bigger screens. I also gotta say that I love the battery life on this thing. Nice being able to make it through the day, and then some.
