This is a Verizon thing, CDMA network will not allow both simultaniously on Verizon, but I think this will be possible when Verizon goes LTE. However, when my Droid X is connected on my wifi, I can make calls while browsing the web.Thank You Blopez21 for that site. After looking at the video's on there I do have many questions but from what it looks like motoblur sounds like it wouldnt be that bad. Is there a similar site for HTC that shows what sense is like?
My other questions are probrably asked all the time but I just never see that threads anywhere so here goes. ( Don't Worry Im not worried about BBM as only my sister uses it so I dont care that im loosing it.
Are text messages threaded like they are on blackberry? It's really annoying doing text messages the old way and having to look at each sent and each recieved message individually.
I came from a storm1 and storm2, and I am happy to tell you that Android has different options for text messaging. I use Hancent, not only is it threaded, it is highly customizable!
Is there a windows based program that I can download that has the android froyo or gingerbread interface that I can play around with that can show the different skins etc?
I have looked at the tab for it but I can't help it I just don't understand. What is rooting? Everywhere I look for information just shows videos of people typeing freaking code and rebooting the phones etc and speak in terms and I never have a clue what they are doing or why they are doing it. I am a tech kinda guy but I have to be explained things a little more basic at first before I can run with it. It almost sounds like they are creating an administrator account for the phone to use so that certain programs can be used or installed that normally wouldnt be but im not sure.
Rooting basically gives you administrator rights on your phone instead of just a limited user account if we compare it to regular windows computers. When you get your android, the default account is limited. when you root it, you have access to a whole new world.
One last thing I forgot to ask....Is it just blackberry or can you not have data working while on a call? I know texting works while on the phone but any data like facebook/emails etc always wait untill the call is over before they come in. Is that just a blackberry thing?
iphone doesnt allow for as much customization as i like, requires me to subject to itunes (which i hate), and its design is a little to hip for my liking, as i prefer something that looks a little more industrial looking. so i can safely say i am never leaving android for apple
I can't wait to leave Android for the Verizon iPhone. I switched to Verizon from AT&T for their vastly superior network but have missed my iPhone ever since. The Android OS is so choppy and laggy compared to how buttery smooth iOS is. I def. wont miss the buggy second rate apps and the overall ugly design of the UI.
Its buttery smooth because their OS doesn't do anything.
there's a traitor among us lol. Im switching from iphone to android. Atrix here i come baby.
Well guys I have read this entire thread and saw exactly what I thought I would. Flame on me all you want but I will most likely get this bad boy when it comes out. Dont get me wrong I LOVE Android however with Verizons current Android line-up non of them really are great. Had the Droid, Droid Inc, X, and now the Fascinate. While all were "good" phones they all have many downfalls from software to hardware. Also, with Verizon's unpredictable updating for Android it makes it even more frustrating. At least we know that when Apple releases the update we will actually get it.
I highly doubt I will keep it for 2 years as I have 4 phones on my account and use all the upgrades myself which equals about 1 upgrade every six months. But I think that this device will suffice until the 4g dual core android phones arrive. I AM NOT AN APPLE FANBOY. However after using a mac one time after 20 years of PC I was converted. I appreciate the quality of there products. However I am not excited about the limitations but I have 30+ friends with the IP4 on ATT and say that if it werent for the sucky network its an awesome phone.
I might have stuck my foot in my mouth one this one and I might take it back a week after I pick it up but I really think the pros outweigh the cons. Also, I cant ignore the fact that I love my Mac and Ipod when I thought I wouldnt before I tried them.... Will definitely hold onto the Fascinate until I'm sure the IP4 is for me....
Please dont hate me....lol
I actually agree with a lot of what this post says. I'm not getting the Verizon iPhone, but I can see the benefits for those that don't keep their fingers on the pulse of technology.
I was an iPhone user on AT&T until last September and so was my wife. We switched because of the continued misery of the dropped calls, lack of signal, no service... yada yada yada. I personally had major problems with my Fascinate for a while but it's gotten better now that I flash custom ROMs.
As for my wife she is no technology hound and has already stated emphatically that she will switch back to iPhone. She just likes it better and there is no convincing her otherwise. I'm sticking with Android as it suits me better being a gadget freak that likes to customize and tweak things... As Tim Allen always said; "If I can just give it a little more power."
On a side note I do readily believe the biggest Achilles heel for Android is the constant flux of new phones with vastly different software builds. Custom skins is one thing, but when devices that launched with superior hardware are 1-2 generations of software behind other phones made by the same vendor (ahem Samsung) that is a problem. Google needs to address that issue very soon or iPhone will absolutely gain traction with it's vastly superior updating and software process using iTunes, which I'm no fan of. OTA updates are great but what good are they when the vendors and carriers can't release them in a timely manner because they are too busy hacking them to pieces with bloat and customizations that nobody cares for?
P.S.- And no we don't hate you. Your opinion is as valid as anybody's here. Also I'm a graphic designer so I use Mac for my professional needs with Adobe CS4/5 as it is far superior for that role than a PC. That's beyond debate folks so hate if you wish but that type of software is written specifically for the Mac platform and 'ported' to the PC. Nuff' said.
