Verizon is way behind!

I don't think it's irrelevant, I mean, if they are not honoring their commitment date, then that is not good. But, this has happened over and over and over again. Sure, hope for the best, but expect the worst.
Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice...

Which is exactly my point. Don't buy something like this for it might be, buy it for what it is. HTC, Motorola, Samsung and etc. Focus on their next device. They do not focus on supporting as heavily as they should once they are released.

If you wanted ICS on your phone from the manufacturer, you chose the wrong phone.

I don't believe that's how it works. When Nexus owners purchased a Samsung phone, knowing full well that the radios were going to be usual Samsung quality, they still complained when they realized that reception and signal were garbage. Is their complaining irrelevant as well? If it is, then consider my point invalid.
Again, I never believed HTC in the first place. But when you're lied to, you're lied to. The complaint is about HTC lying about OUR upgrade, but then bringing out "early" upgrades to phones that were rarely even mentioned.

At this point what you want to believe is meaningless. This industry is replete with examples of manufacturers either lying to their customers or giving grossly inaccurate and incorrect information. With Android it goes all the way back to the G1.

When hTC and Verizon had the Rezound release event I stayed up and watched it live. Both hTC and Verizon both said quarter one ICS update. Also mentioned and advertised as the first hTC phone ICS ready. I also bought the Rezound for the hardware first but also bought it under the impression we would get ICS quarter 1.

That's the back story I wondered about. I was solely focused on the Nexus through that time period, even into Dec., that I missed all that stuff. Hell I rented the specs., not for the phone, at first. One time Rezound renter=> now happily rooted owner.

Really what I'm looking for out of ICS is hardware exceleration and better browser.

Hardware acceleration/optomization was the whole reason I took any interest in ICS really. Owning a dual core device made little sense to me if it was going to handle tasks like a single core w/ occasional help when things got heavy. I'm not sure I would be a big fan of Google if they hadn't made that a focal point of 4.0. I'm really tempted to jump in now that the firmware is available. I like the ICS Browser but I don't think it's in the same league as Dolphin.

It is also a legitimate gripe and fraudulant anytime you are promised anything, if you buy our product. Especially when hTC phones that weren't promised or advertised ICS ready and will get it in the Q1 time frame have it already. And to anyone that likes trolling to stir trouble and hasn't forked over the 300 to 600 for the Rezound really doesn't have a reason or right to tell Rezound owners who bought this phone with guarantees to quit whining!

WORD:cool:

I would not say Verizon is way behind, but, it definitely isn't first. We still have a few days left in March, and, I am hoping we will all be pleasantly surprised.

I have also been with Verizon since they were Airtouch. They are the best.

It sure seems to me that manufacturers are having a hard time with ICS. It has been out for 5 months now and the only phone in the entire US (except the ATT Vivid got it today?) is the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Plus it seems like Nexus owners have had a lot of issues with a number of maintenance updates. In fact, how come ATT or T-Mobile don't have the Galaxy Nexus yet - that's GSM which has been out since Oct 2011. I think Jerry Hildenbrand has said this many times - "Love the one you're with" - translation - don't expect your phone to upgrade to anything more than what it has (maintenance releases only). If you want ICS then get a phone with ICS. If you're already lusting after Jelly Bean then get a phone that launches with JB. You know, the minute any body gets updated to ICS everyone will want Jelly Bean even though no one even knows what' on it. If you have to have the latest and greatest you're probably already rooting and you're not really interested in stock anything from the manufacturer. There are a lot of people very happy with the manufacturer version of Android (Sense, Touchwiz, Blur, etc). It is good to hear HTC is toning down Sense a little bit and looking to add value (I must say I like Sense 2.1 on my Dinc 2) and I actually hope I like 3.6 with ICS - my bet is end of 2Q 2012.

I care about coverage and 4g service, Verizon has that over ATT. And if its really about getting ICS I'm rooting and can just flash Rom right away if I wanted it that bad.

im absolutely with you on that one. i have 4g almost everywhere i go unless im in a ghetto area.

You'll get far better coveragein a "ghetto area" than most rural towns in America. Heck, they get stronger signals over on that end of CLE than I do on the outskirts of the city.

In my opinion, I think what manufacturers are having a difficult time with is getting all of their add on garbage and bloatware to work properly with ICS.

Considering they had a tough time getting 2 of them working on the VGN. ICS should be officially on the Rezound by the 2016 Olympics. lol
Pretty much.

Just my opinion, I think the ultimately the trouble is a lack of interest in getting the update ready and pushed out. I think the phone manufacturers purposely drag their feet. They do not want to do more than one update per year. The updates will be pushed out right around the time the first phone with Jelly Bean is released. That way they maintain being roughly a year behind whatever the current OS is.

The consumers are basically being forced into purchasing whatever phone comes with the current year OS already installed. If they choose not to make that purchase they do not get to have it pre-installed.

What is even more of a shame to me, is that these new "high end" phones that only coming with Gingerbread pre-installed are about the same price as the GNex, only they do not have the current OS.

Why would there be a difference? There is nothing different about the manufacturing process, hardware and specs on a high end GB model and the GN w/ ICS. You don't pay for a subsidized phone based on the OS, it's the manufacturing cost that dictates price points. It's not like other phones are shutout of the ICS experience. In that respect, if I owned a GNex I'd be more upset that the soon to be released models will benchmark above the GN, in a majority of aspects b/c of hardware improvements over the GB era released models. Yet they are going to be sold at the same price.

I think these complaining threads about not receiving ICS updates need to settle down, everyone will get their updates when the manufacture and carrier feels they are bug free enough and ready for a daily driver.

After what happened with GB do you really think they are trying to work the bugs out? Did you get the first update for the Zound? There aren't even words for how bad that was. VLA, what a joke. Anyway, it's good that your optimistic, because the thought of a big update makes me cringe.

Everyone complanes about not getting the update, it will be on the way. I started with verizon a very long time ago. Then I left them and bounced around from carrier to carrier, they all S***ED. I went right back to Verizon. Verizon has the best service and that's what counts, not updates. Although updates are nice, its like a bunch of kids waiting for the ICE CREAM truck, it will be here!

Of course people are waiting for the ice cream truck. It has all of the ice cream sandwiches.

You are correct it will be here. Unfortunately, given the current state of affairs, I think it will arrive right around the time Jelly Bean is being released.

What is this current state of affairs? Verizon has a darn near finished build in their laps at the moment. Vivid just got their offficial OTA. What could possibly tie this up until Jellybean starts knocking on the door?

I have been with Verizon since BEFORE they were Airtouch...What were they called then...USWest or something like that?

So if most of the people who really want ICS already have it, what is the point of rushing a release to people who don't even know what gingerbread is? I would almost say the only people who are demanding it and don't have it are the ones complaining online about it. So, maybe less than a hundred?

You don't have an iPhone, you don't have to wait for jack. Right now you don't even have to root to get ics, just go get the leak. And don't give me the warranty woes. We have zero people denied warranty on rooted phones.

Short story. I work for a cable company. Somebody changed how about ten channels are transmitted to cable boxes. Well, he didn't do enough testing, pushed the update, and several thousand people were without some major channels for almost a month while it was sorted out. Big companies move slow because they have dumb people working for them, and they have to make a process that has to be followed, no matter how simple something is.
