Verizon Launch Delayed..(rumors)

It's not part of sense. I think sense has it where it auto reflows I.e. pinch zoom and it instantly wraps versus native Android pinch to zoom in then Double tap then it reflows.
That's my experience as well. Running CM7 on my Samsung Fascinate and it won't automatically text wrap after pinch to zoom.

One of the reasons why I'm using Opera Mobile right now. Overall a smoother and more powerful browsing experience (except it takes a few more seconds when it initially loads).

I'm a little curious on how this phone will perform with the inclusion of an LTE radio. I recently tested a Bionic for seven days (on a battery that had been through plenty of charge cycles) and it was subpar to say the least. Im going to assume its not going to be much of an improvement on the Galaxy Nexus and it's causing me to doubt whether I'm going to want this phone or not.

It seems Panda is wanting an extended battery already. That's not exactly inspiring. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

If so, I wonder why the Slovaks I've met described themselves as Slovaks and not Europeans. I'm not sure I could go to Europe and describe myself as an Illinoisan and get less than a confused look as a response.
Europeans nations pride themselves with a few thousand years long culture and tradition, which can't really be said for Illinoisans, right? It goes pretty deep on the other side of the pond, which has also nothing really to do with the cell phones..
It has to do with putting down smaller nations that are perfectly aligned with EU economic standard (which happened to be much higher than ours)...

...Logically: Samsung/Google has been promoting. They have ads all over. They just held a European announcement that it was coming out the 17th there. If it was coming out here on the 17th, wouldn't they go as big as they could, have a worldwide announcement that it was coming out "everywhere" on the 17th?

Things are never that simple, cut & dry w/ Verizon. There are 2 versions of the SGN. Samsung/Google are handling the GT-I9250 world launch of the dual gsm/cdma model. Verizon is leading the launch of their own SGN variant, the (exclusive) SCH-I515 model. It's a logical thought about ads & promos. but that way of marketing has never been the modus operandi for Verizon & their phone releases. They've done things at their own pace, choosing & control. As an example of this. Shortly after the SGN unpacking event. Samsung was inundated w/ questions about release info. on their Twitter account because carriers weren't mentioned, only a Nov. release was hinted. The following day, an employee of Samsung tweeted, on Samsungs official account, in response to the inquiries, that Verizon was the the only one w/ a deal, as far as carriers at that point, and it would release to others later. Verizon wanted to let that cat outta the bag themselves, when they felt ready. This was the second time Samsung released info. about the SGN on Verizon. When media broke the story. They issued the first, w/ permission, that Verizon opted out of the SGS II, in favor of an exclusive Samsung release down the line, shortly before the unpacking event for the U.S. carriers & their new variants of the SGS II. When they found out it happened again, w/out permission, they asked them retract that tweet. Samsung then retracted & retweeted that they were misinformed and no carrier was confirmed. Since Verizon was already named previously & was mum about the whole thing all along. When tech. sites heard that. They panicked thinking Verizon must've blown their "exclusive" somehow, which is understandable considering Verizon backed out of the original Nexus device, in favor of launching the Droid lineup, at the last minute. That retweet backfired worse on Verizon because people got pissed off thinking reports were true. Which was the only reason Verizon confirmed, as damage control, they still had a deal in place & would launch "later this year".

. ....Anyone who thinks Verizon isn't screwing this up, ask yourselves this. "Why is Slovakia getting this phone before me?"

Nothing new here, the U.S. is always at the end of the line for phone releases. Much like Verizons SGN variant, the T-bolt was an "exclusive" built as a carrier specific release, to work on their LTE network. Verizons the most stringent of the stateside carriers when it comes to testing new devices. All of Verizons 4g offerings, have a far lengthier testing period than the phones distributed to GSM carriers. You can usually expect test periods in the US to be double the time it spent in testing overseas. It also of note, that their are other hurdles that phones have to be subjected to in the US, that aren't required overseas. If you look back at history, you'll discover that there aren't many phones that don't ship out to foreign markets before they land stateside. However, none of that means we won't see a US release, or pre-order period start, on or before Nov. 17. I don't think Verizon would've issued any statement about their release if large scale testing was still underway, though.

I apologize if you perceive a slight, but it's just not there. No matter what you choose to read into my original question, there's only one answer to it. I'd prefer if you were going to accuse me of something, you would take it backchannel. This whole part of the discussion is off-topic.

No worries man it is kind of off topic ;)

The nov 17th launch in Europe could be the result of Google/Samsung pushing to release there in time to prevent the Nokia/Microsoft partnership from getting off to a good start. After all Microsoft will likely be Google's main competition moving forward, apple will always exist in their own ecosystem, but Google and Microsoft have to fight each other for manufacturer preference before they can fight apple over users.

Since the only competition on the horizon for the us galaxy nexus is other android phones, Google probably isn't as concerned about an early release here and Samsung can continue to rely on their very profitable sgs2, droid charge, and give the stratosphere some time to sell. As for verizon, spacing out launches would be the best deal for them, they don't want to release 3 great phones the same day and dilute the market impact for each.

It's a solid point to takenote of, it just sounds a little funny when I read it. To me, that partnership just reeks of mobile market desperation. I don't think anyone but the hopeful shareholders expect great things from that mating.

I agree it's a bit of a stretch, but I'd be willing to bet HTC and Samsung will be watching to see if wp7 can get any momentum and Nokia phones still sell very well...

Not many advancements in the LTE radio department yet. We'll have to wait and see but I doubt battery life will be to much better.

Unfortunately, it's lame that after a year, their greatest advancement has been offering aftermarket extended batteries for purchase. Way to innovate, guys. 2012 has to get better cuz it can't get any worse. << Fingers& toes crossed.

We shouldn't be blaming the very first generation LTE chipsets. Think about what progress if any battery technology has achieved...

As long as Verizon does release this Nexus then 2011 will be the best year in Android history for me at least. That's the ONLY thing I'm looking forward to and if it does not happen for some reason I will have lost all faith in mankind.......... Verizon be damned if you let us down once again!

so..guess I should share some news. The release date for the Verizon nexus is under review... do not think It will be the third or for that matter the 10th hear rumors peg it near the 17th and based on carrier request to "space" out their release plans things maybe turning to crap.

I will update when i can confirm....

Panda

Can you please clarify what you meant by "things maybe turning to crap"? It sucks being left in the dark about a device that means so much to us. Is the launch getting canceled?

Same thought ran through my mind as well. I currently have a DX with an extended battery. There are times when I am no where near a power outlet for 10 to 12 hours and for me that is cutting it danged close to my battery running out.

I just talked to the VZW marketing employee that officially announced the Nexus on twitter about launch and she said that she has heard absolutely nothing about launch getting canned or anything along those lines. She told me she would let me know if she hears anything about it. So maybe that's not what Panda meant by "things maybe turning to crap"..... who knows though

I don't exactly hear an outcry from peeps in the Asian LTE markets having the same issues w/ their "next generation" chipsets & battery life, do you? We're further behind than just a generation.
