Verizon Launch Delayed..(rumors)

that was pretty obvious (in my mind) once we saw a confirmed razr date. common sense put the rezound out week after (17th) then thanksgiving...then galaxynexus

Somebody on Engadget mentioned that this looks more like an advertising Map as opposed to an actual release date/price Map. I should have noticed that right away. So, it's still possible that the Nexus will be out before Black Friday, but maybe not as likely as before.

This is now officially a Christmas phone folks.....if we are lucky. If its a hot phone in the UK we will be lucky to get this before the first of the year due to all the possible back orders for the holiday's. My sister still hasn't gotten her iphone that she pre-ordered a month ago so I would think this would be the same problem. Very very bad launch...

It's not that bad, everyone. It only makes business sense to launch a new phone every month as opposed to three new phones at once.

However, I am surprised that the Rezound is launching first... considering that its announcement will be basically two full weeks after the GN.

I guess that ICS is really the attraction and launching a non-ICS phone after the GN doesn't make sense either.

I wonder what the chances are of a AT&T galaxy nexus with LTE, and if one does exist would it be able to take advantage of a possible future in which the AT&T and tmobile merger does go through and AT&T can deploy LTE in 2x20? That might make for a significantly better experience in the long run.

I don't know if this has been posted, or if anyone else has ever noticed this, but lately VZ does not do full blown marketing onslaughts until AFTER the phone has been released in stores.

true.

and in some cases.. long after.. the fascinate had a media blitz like 3-4 months ago.. approx 8 months after it was released.

2x20mhz could possibly happen if merger actually goes through but I'm hoping it never does because that would effectively murder the gsm competitiveness and enforce monopoly. Att could aggregate their aws with 700mhz and deploy 40mhz but until lte-advanced devices are available aggregation isn't a reality.
On the other hand Verizon already has as much as 42mhz of 700mhz spectrum in certain markets like nyc.

Anyone else find it odd that both BMX and P3Droid have not tweeted anything today?

Spooooky.:p

For all we know they are doing this to delay ICS coming out so those that said we will have (motorola) it 6 Weeks after release, have time to make good on that promise. I.e. they are probably doing it now and need time.

In terms of the nexus prime alone, if intending on keeping it for ~18 months, and hypothetically if an AT&T LTE nexus prime comes to exist, and if AT&T intends to do a 2x20 rel 8 LTE network if the merger does happen, which would be the better network to be on?

And is gsm competition even a factor anymore? In two years we will have the three major carriers all be LTE carriers with either gsm or CDMA only for legacy support. There may or may not be a fourth carrier still around, but it's unlikely to be an LTE carrier.

as far as Verizon pushing its non ICS phones ahead of the ICS phone.. this is kind of intresting.. the Asus Transformer Prime was suppose to launch on Nov9th with ICS.. its now launching with Honeycomb.

I wonder if this is because Samsung has first dibs on ICS on any device period.. or Asus simply had some sort of problem internally with the development.. they announced it was suppose to launc with ICS not long ago.

I just find it odd that he actually has nothing to say. Quality of the tweet notwithstanding...;)

I didn't think the transformer prime was supposed to release with ics, I think you're thinking of the PadPhone, I could be wrong of course but that's what I remember hearing

He probably won't say anything unless he has concrete info about it

No, there's no 'dibs'. ASUS got ahead of themselves is all.
