So, planning on spending a month in Italy next year. Will my stock LG-G4 VS986 work over there? Can I purchase a new SIM card and a data package for over there? Then change back to my Verizon plan when we return?

I currently have the unlimited Verizon data plan. I don't want to jeopardize the unlimited data plan.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Yes you can! You shouldn't have to lose the unlimited plan if you plan to go through Verizon for overseas travel. Take a look at their page here: International Plans and World Devices from Verizon

I would still suggest contacting them and make sure you will have coverage in Italy, or if there is an affiliate you can go through for services without changing your current plan details.

Verizon smartphones are unlocked. Just buy a local Sim card in Italy. Then you won't have to change or modify your plan

Sorry accidentally sent my last message without finishing it. If you want this to be hassle free and not mess with your plan it's cheaper to get a prepaid Sim. Verizon and Att have very crappie international plans and they charge like crazy. The only carrier with best deal is t-mobile compared to Verizon and att for international use. I hope this helps

Thank you. I tried to look up that model number and I was not able to find a definitive answer. I appreciate your help.

I am in Italy now, have been for a month. I took my Verizon G4 to a TIM store and purchased their "Welcome"package. 3000 minutes and 3GB data ...30 Euros. Beats the hell out of having the Verizon "International" plan. Swap out the Verizon sim and change the APN in settings .. that's it
