Verizon LTE Down... AGAIN!

Everything still down in southern San Diego....

no 3g or LTE here in Dallas.

This is happening way too often. As much as I hate AT&T I never experienced this many data outages with them. I'm tired of hearing all of this "Most reliable network" crap.

I'm in Burlington, MA and no 4G or 3G for me. However, my co-worker in the cubicle right next to me, who also has a GNEX, is pulling in 3G. I just don't get it...

Strange, I had 4G in my office all morning, walked outside to go to lunch at 1pm and lost all data, toggled airplane as a hunch, not change. Took a phone call, without issue, still no data. Reboot my phone as I'm nearing the office and a minute later I have 4G again. Akron, Ohio.

No $h1t! Funny because my brother-in-law who lives in a different market than me has not had one issue with his signal. As a matter of fact he has had 2 issues, battery drain and static in the speaker while on voice calls, that I have not had while I have had 7 issues that he has never experienced. I makes me wonder if there funny going with different batches of these phones. I'm beginning to think the might be some variances in with these devices that might be causing different issues for different users.

No 4G or 3G on my G-Nex in central Cali. My wife has a fascinate though and her 3G is fine.

what i dont understand is.. why do other phones still get 3g (ie. iphone / fascinate) if 4g is down?
With the Nexus, when 4g goes down.. we lose 3g as well...making the phone utterly USELESS

I believe this is because Verizon 4G phones authenticate to the 3G CDMA network using the SIM card as well as opposed to the method a Verizon 3G only device does. So when the 4G network is experiencing issues, the device can't authenticate so it won't get 3G either... but if someone more informed can clear this up with a better explanation, please do.

Someone suggested this over at Droid-Life. Doesn't seem to be working for me (my signal bar is now displaying '3G' but I'm not actually getting data) but maybe you'll have better luck:

Try going into Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Network Mode ... then choose "CDMA Only".

This disables 4G (you'll need to turn it back on when 4G works again in your area), but at least lets 3G work (note: after making this change, I had to toggle airplane mode on/off for the 3G to kick in again).

I just got 4g.. unfortunately GRAY BARS 4g.. which doesnt work at all for me.. its the same as having no data..
