Verizon Max Plan

Seeing as I am paying $9.99 for unlimited data on two lines - I don't see me doing anything else unless forced to...

I'm on that too and its a major reason why I am hanging onto it for as long as possible. That promotion is so awesome.

$96 a month for 900 Minutes, unlimited web and text, TEC Insurance. After taxes of course. Awesome.

I remember everyone claimed they received the flier in their email just to get this discount. I called Verizon and told them straight that I saw the flier online but I didn't receive it personally. She looked into it and said she appreciated my honesty and applied it to my account. Apparently so many people were lying through their teeth that they were getting denied but she liked my honesty.

Those prices and data allowances are acceptable. I would switch if I ever had to with those as long as it was permanent. This 2 GB for $30 nonsense is ridiculous and overpriced. 8 GB plus Hotspot for $50? Good deal.

You're forgetting that over the course of the edge plan the full retail cost for the phone is required vs on the 2gb for 30$ plan you get a significant subsidy. Really this max plan more closely aligns with the equivalent share plan on contact than anything else.

I see some of your bills and it pits my $160/mo to shame. Insurance, unlimited data and voice, and tethering. It helps a little that my employer pays my entire bill (including a jetpack and ipad)

I have unlimited data plan on Verizon and have not seen anything about the Max plan on Verizon's website. I am wondering if someone is trying to scam Droid-life or whether Verizon decided not to go through with the Max plan due to the leaks and adverse reactions.

No it is real, call Verizon and ask about it. Most Will have to look it up as it is new, but they find it and it is real.

I stopped into a VZW store this morning, on my way to work, to buy a DROID maxx. The rep done asked which new plan I was getting today........ I said neither I'm paying retail for it. Then he goes into "car salesman" mode n tries a hard sell on the plans. I listened but it all sounded like.... Whomp whomp.... Whomp whomp whomp Lmao.

So after his sales pitch I said ok can I have the phone now. He again asked..... What plan was I going with Smh.

I said in the most calm n polite voice..... Neither.... Sir. I would just like to buy the phone n be on my way if u don't mind..... Sir.

Then he proceeded to go to the back n came back n said "oh we can not sell u the phone without u getting one of the new plans".

I responded politely ok. His eyes lit up cus he thought I was gonna change my plan. I grabbed my bag n said have a good day..... Sir. He just looked at me n rolled his eyes lol.

I'm going to file a complaint with the BBC later after my meeting.

My thing is who would willingly give up their unlimited for one of these new plans?

You aren't the first person to complain about this. Best option if you want to buy full retail would be just to buy it online. Same price and free shipping, and you don't have to deal with Verizon in store salesmen.

Has anyone who is NOT on the umlimited plan been able to get these plans? I am on loyalty $60 unlimited talk/text/2gb data and 22% discount on top of that with 2 lines,. Want to switch my main line to the 8gb max plan...

I tried to get a Droid Maxx on the Edge program with the 8GB tethering. After I went thru the ordering process online, I get the message that I am not eligible for the Edge plan. I called Verizon and neither the CS rep or her manager could override. I have been a VZW for years and have never had a late payment (I have automatic payment set up). The CS rep said she could get me subsidized phone if I switched to Share Everything plan. I said no thanks that I did not want to be tied to a contract or phone for 2 years.

So, I will be keeping my unlimited plan and just buy a new phone at full price. When I get bored with it, I will sell it and buy a new phone to replace. VZW's loss. If T-mobile ever gets better coverage and LTE where I live, I will be dumping VZW and going with T-mobile and using either Google Nexus or Google Edition phones.

Is this plan usable by people in a family plan with unlimited? I have an old family plan with 2 unlimited data lines and both the wife and I are itching for new phones (upgrade not until the end of January ).

While both of us can easily get by on a 4gb shared plan (we rarely use more than 1gb each due to constant wifi and on a rare occasion I use 2-3 a month) I would feel a lot more comfortable with a limit like what is offered in the max plans.

Can this be used in some sort of family plan or would I have to split the phones into two separate single line phone bills?

Most likely, that is why they said it can't be shared. Otherwise they would just say that it applied to just individual lines

I figured that would be likely. I honestly have no issues breaking the family plan into two lines if it saves money.

Which leads me to my next questions. Is this new max plan charging the same price for unlimited talk and text as the current single plans ($40 per phone)?

When I looked on the VZW site I can get a single plan with 2gb($60 for data, $40 for smartphone use - $100 total) would the max plan essentially be $70 total ($30 for data $40 for smartphone use)?

Another Q. Does Verizon have the ability to cancel this deal a few months down the road on me and put me on the original tiered plans since I am not signing a contract? This possibility bothers me the most

The current share everything plans are different than the legacy plans.

For max though, voice and text pricing should not change, data price would be $30 or $50 depending on which option you chose

You are in essence signing a contract, you agree to pay for the phone in monthly payments for 24 months. They might not call it a contract, but a contract in irs basic meaning is simply an agreement, either written or verbal. By this definition, it is a contract. If Verizon makes a material change, then they are breaking the contract. But I doubt that they would do that, at least during the time you are paying for the phone.

Thank you for the reply.

I just finished talking to a CS rep online who explained it to me as this:

The max data plan is not a "new" plan entirely. It is a replacement to the $29.99 unlimited charge us unlimited plan holders currently have. Max just modifies you current old plan.

So in my case I would not leave my old 1400 shared minutes/ 250-500 limited text plan but instead of paying $29.99 for unlimited I would pay $30 for limited data, leaving my bill to cost the same with the same features minus the data limit and being required to join the edge program.

Sorry for the long post. I hope it makes sense

And just a reminder, for those with corporate discounts, the $30 tiered data does not get a discount, the unlimited data does.

Are the new Data Max Plans available for standard upgrades or do VZW customers have to use the EDGE upgrade program to get them?

I was told you need to have an unlimited plan, currently be eligible for an upgrade, and sign up for the edge program

I'm confused. So this would replace my $29 unlimited with a $30 6Gb, but I would keep my 450min voice plan, and become eligible for Edge? (I only get a 12% discount on data, so thats only $3.60)

You would lose your discount and still not get a phone with a subsidy. You would only get a phone on the edge program so your bill would increase another $20-$30 a month when you get a phone.
