i will order as soon as i can confirm that it can do voice and data without having to be on VoLte.

it cannot and will never be able to (nor will other future released phones on verizon, is my understanding)

I ordered a black/black/dark grey 32GB VZW model on MotoMaker about 3 hours ago - availability was 6 days with estimated delivery on Oct 8. It seems likely that there were a lot of orders early this morning or some configurations have limited supply if vmaxed's order is estimated to arrive 5 business days earlier...

So get this... Pulled the trigger on a OnePlus One yesterday, but after reading so many quality issues and then having the Verizon announcement come out, I canceled the order. Shame on me for wasting an invite, I know. But at the same time I can't wait to land the new Moto X. The Nexus 6 looks way too big from what's been leaked out recently, so the new X seems to be the perfect all-around device.

Coming from an HTC Evo 4G LTE on Sprint to this phone on Verizon will be a very welcome chance.

Are we talking about being able to have a call on speaker phone and surf the net at the same time? (this is just an example scenario).
If so I've been doing this since my HTC thunderbolt days. Most, if not all Vzw 4g phones can do this (not the iPhone 5 or 5s). Am I missing something?

Yep, love my OG X, but I'm going in a different design direction this time. I was tempted by the navy leather and another PSU theme, but I just wanted to do something a bit different....

The new moto x cannot do data and voice at the same time, unless you have VoLTE enabled. This feature is not yet available on verizon, and is coming with an update "this fall" and will need to be manually enabled in your Verizon account and on your phone settings.

However if you enable VoLTE your phone will drop voice calls any time you move from LTE to 3G.

Yes, all phones used to be able to do this except the iphones.

Yes, this is different than how android phones used to work on verizon.

I'm hanging on my old white/navy/blue Moto X for at least the rest of the year, so I have some time to check out displays and change my mind a few times!

Yeah I was wishing they had the navy leather when I order the oG, that would look amazing with my PSU theme. I agree, they are spoiling us with choices now. I was dying for a wood back when they were announced after I purchase my navy one, now they dropped the leather bomb so I think I have to do it. Just so different. Plus, I'm a freak wiht my phones. No case, never drop (knock on wood), and they always look like the day I bough them. I'm looking forward to wearing int hat leather nicely.

I wouldn't mind holding onto my OG for a bit either, I'm just real antsy now and I'm sure I want to stick with Moto, so why not!

I wasn't too tempted by the wood on the OG X because I wasn't a fan the plastic trim they had to use with it. Looks nicer on the new model!

with this advanced calling there is no fall back to the voice if you get off LTE so the call drops off. thats where my original question comes from.

edit: went to verizon store, tested it, no voice and data at the same time. stupid.
