Verizon Motorola DROID Turbo Trade in "Any" smartphone for Turbo?

Re: Trade in "Any" smartphone for Turbo?

I as well just got off phone with a Verizon rep and trade in any working Smartphone 100 off total price of Turbo.
I stopped by a store today and was told the same thing

CNET is also seems to be saying if you get the Turbo (and don't have Edge) that you can still upgrade whether your contract is up or not. My contract is up soon but if this is true no need to wait at all.

Droid Turbo supercharges Verizon's franchise with 2-day battery - CNET

"Verizon is offering a few promotions for the Droid Turbo, including a $100 trade-in value for an old smartphone and the purchase of the device. The carrier is also waiving its upgrade fees if a customer purchases the Turbo. The carrier is also offering any customer who damages their Turbo screen a one-time free replacement."

Waiving upgrade fees is different than allowing you to upgrade early.

Just read the article and I agree, they won't be allowing anybody to break contracts. You will have to wait to buy the phone at a discount if you are still in a contract...or they may try to sell it to you on the Edge program so they can squeeze more out of you while on contract.

I'm willing to test what they mean by ANY phone. My brother's old Droid X has 2 black circles in the screen about the size of a dime each. Almost every surface other than the buttons, camera, and screen have been ground down by a dremel, and the labeling off the buttons are ground off too. It looks absolutely terrible haha. I wonder if they'll give me the 100 for it. Still boots up though!

Does anyone know how long the trade in offer is good for? Trying to figure out if I should act soon out wait until black Friday sales.

Well it did seem too good to be true but I am going to ask at the store what the offer really amounts to. Anyway my contract is up on 11/24 and a customer service rep told me this morning that anyone can upgrade in the week leading up to their contract date (I have never seen that in print anywhere). For me that's just about three weeks - plenty of time to let early adopters review the phone in detail. I can already say the Turbo is not perfect (what is?) but it seems like the way to go.

Re: Trade in "Any" smartphone for Turbo?

Where are you seeing the "print"? We are moving 4 lines off a very old plan to a new Edge more everything plan. 3 of the lines will be getting new phones. 2 will be Turbos & 1 will be a GS4. Why would there be an issue getting the trade in for 2 separate phones?

You can only apply the promotions as limit 1 per customer. So only 1 of the Turbos could use the $100 trade in promo.

Again, you could easily go to another store and upgrade the other Turbo, I'm sure.

Re: Trade in "Any" smartphone for Turbo?

OK so I'm a bit confused on how the $100 back works. Can you apply the $100 credit towards the purchase of the Turbo or is it just that you get $100 credit back when trading in and purchasing the Turbo? Seeing the similar offer for the iPhone suggests the latter.

Re: Trade in "Any" smartphone for Turbo?

We did not ask a rep for the code.

Ry, I think you confused us all by mentioning the code your mom randomly got after purchasing her iPhone... which has absolutely NOTHING to do with the Droid Turbo $100 trade in offer. Case closed! Now this thread can get back to its namesake.

Yes, you can sign up for EDGE and pay the minimum on the device, or pay more each month, or pay it off in full. You still get the EDGE discount on your line access, and can trade in the phone when at least 75% of it is paid off. Or, you can keep it for as long as you'd like and still keep the discount.

The trade in code to get the $100 for trading in a working smartphone and buying the turbo is MotoTurboSmart100

Can you get the deal in stores, or is it online only? And it's really *any* working smartphone? I have a junky old Droid X. Wondering if I should next day a battery from Amazon to make sure it works and trade it in. I prefer buying phones in-store over online, though.

They should be able to help you in-store with the code.

And yes, any working smartphone. You should probably get a battery to prove that it's working.

Do you know if it is 1 discount per account or if we could use it to buy TWO droid turbo phones for 2 of our lines? One is certainly better than none, but it would be awesome to get $100 off both the phones we'll be buying. (New edge more everything plan with 4 lines- we are currently 26 moths into a very old "nationwide talk" (no texting) plan.)

I don't see why not. If you and your other family member are there at the time it should be fine. You're technically separate customers since you could both come in separately at different times and they wouldn't know the difference.

I found a link on verizonwireless.com that states that this deal is in fact true.

A New DROID Experience Arrives in 48 Hours

If you go to a store and they say that there is no such deal, show them this. It looks to me like they're trying to hide this deal so more people don't take advantage of it.
I called Verizon directly this afternoon when I couldn't find a local store that could confirm for sure they had 64GB version, and the very helpful Verizon rep tried to sell me the phone, but the system would not allow her. But, she ALSO volunteered the $100 trade in credit and explained how it worked both online and at B&M stores. Either way, it's processed as a credit on your bill down the road, so don't expect $100 off on the spot. I didn't go so far as to ask if "any" phone would qualify. She asked the condition of my "current" phone, so obviously, they would certainly prefer your existing phone (makes sense). I plan on trying to trade my old Sprint HTC EVO 4G. It's in exceptional condition, but has no value to me.

Hmm, that's true about the "current" phone - one place where the language is a little iffy. It says "your old smartphone" on the vzw page linked above. If they insist on it being your current phone, couldn't you just activate your crappy old phone and deactivate your actual current phone, and then do the trade in?
