I know this doesn't belong to this thread... but I'm torn between the Droid Turbo and the Moto X. Help me decide giving me an outsider outlook... Thanks

I have both sitting in front of me.

Moto x looks nicer, camera is faster, better speaker, better earpiece, and it's a little cheaper (order through Comcast for a $150 rebate card, but returns are a nightmare).

Turbo battery is about 2x better (for me) and has the latest/greatest components and comes in 64gb, $100 credit for bringing in any old phone to trade in.

Both are smooth as butter under everything I do with them, both screens are nice. Both cameras are kind of crappy compared to samsung. Both fit in my pocket great, they are thin and feel great in my hand.

Unless the battery means a lot, both are really really nice phones. I'd be happy with either but am getting rid of the x. Hopefully the camera for both improves with L.

I agree with you , I have been living happy with the Moto X (2013) for the last year. Love the size and features. Never had any issues with the battery as I have a charger everywhere. A custome divice looks more classy than the bulky Turbo... and will look better once I get my hands on a Moto 360 with metal bands...

I should add in full disclosure that I have not had hands on with the Turbo yet. On my list for today. But I know it's thicker and it weighs over an ounce more. Pretty sure I will not like that difference. Plus, to go from beautiful leather to slippery ballistic nylon...

I think you will be pleasantly surprised at its voluptuous curves. Think Marilyn Monroe rather than Paris Hilton.

The former will also let you enjoy those powerful curves a lot longer.

I'd rather have the storage, the top of the line specs, and a battery I never have to think about.

I'm falling for the specs of the Turbo, however the aesthetics of the Moto X is what is keeping me on the fence... As well that more likely the Moto X will receive quicker updates than the Turbo!

I'm in the same boat. Very excited about the power of the Turbo, and was 90% sure it would be my next phone. Spent an hour at the store Friday playing with it, and functionally it truly is a beast...but I didn't fall in love with the aesthetics. I'm not a "I don't care what it looks like, I'm going to put it in a case anyway" guy, half the time I carry my M7 naked just because it's so darn beautiful. Also played with the Moto X and absolutely love the exterior design. Now I'm really on the fence...do I get the Turbo with its significantly superior functionality but a design that does not inspire me, or do I get an X for its customizable beauty and live with its lesser capabilities? Aaaaaaargh!

This is the part I'm not sure about. In real world usage am I really going to see the difference between the 805 and the 801? Am I ever really going use and need that 3rd gb of ram? In a way that I'd notice a performance difference if it wasn't there? System and software are functionally identical. Other than wireless charging and battery life I just don't see "significantly superior functionality." If battery's an important factor, then yes. If not, I'll sacrifice wireless charging for pleasing aesthetics and less bulk.

Not trying to dis the Turbo, just trying to think it through.

I'll save us both some time and say Turbo is faster and better in every way from hardware performance and features standpoint. No matter what list I give you it's not gonna convince you if you can't accept the obvious difference between the cpu and ram. Let's just call the Turbo more future proof than the X.

Had the Moto X for 2 days and retuned it .I really liked the customization. The battery life was horrible and the biggest and worst part of the Moto X is dealing with Motorola and Verizon. Motorola does not understand the concept of ordering from Verizon then getting the PIN and ordering the phone. Verizon does not understand how and why Motorola would ship a phone to you when it is a Verizon product. Motorola does not know when they ship the product but Verizon is notified long before you know.

The return process is equally frustrating. You have to return the product back to Motorola and then they have to notify Verizon. I still get emails from Motorola wanting to know how I paid for the unit so, they can credit back the account. I am still not out of the woods yet. Verizon has committed to unwinding the contract but, I have not seen it as of yet. So, far this last week, I have spent 3 hours a day between Verizon and Motorola trying to find someone that can do something. Finally on Friday, I lucked out with someone at Verizon who has done that before.

Before receiving the product, I was going to get 2 FedEx shipments. Verizon could not tell me what was what or whether I was getting the phone in the shipments. All they knew was that I was getting 2 shipments. I contacted Motorola and they had no clue as their records showed the phone still being built. The first FedEx package was not the phone but, the 2nd was. Then if you reside in California, Motorola says you have 30 days to evaluate their product. Verizon says you have 15 days. So, that was interesting to see who was going to decide which warranty applied.

My situation is not a rare one by any means. If you go on Android Central you will hear similar stories. It was a big headache that I never want to relive. They still have not credited me back for the case that I purchased with the unit. If I buy a unit from Motorola, I will buy it directly from them and deal with them only. I really liked the phone, its the whole process that killed the deal.

I experienced most of the same shenanigans with my Motomaker Moto X purchase and return. Utterly unbelievable from two industry leading companies.

I accept the difference in the numbers. I'm less ready to accept that they translate to any truly noticeable performance difference. Particularly the ram difference.

Like many here, I'm also on the proverbial fence. I've got probably one of the only 1 gen Moto X's that can amass up to 4 days of battery life (have screen shots - posts in G+). I know it's hard to believe. I'm a mostly easy/medium user (G+, lots 'o photos, 2 email accounts, Hangout, a few phone calls but WAY more txt'ng) but after almost a year owning the phone, still getting 3 days 17hrs average use with 3+ hrs SOT. Anyway...long story short. I'm not getting rid of the 'turbo' X but going to either grab the N6 (waiting for VZW) or most likely Droid Turbo for no other reason than larger battery (sounds silly) camera (Camera2 apk in Lollypop will be sweet!) screen (1440p is overkill but 565ppi..wow and 5.2 size) and Motorola has the BEST in radio circuitry and build quality.

I purchased through comcast, got a PIN for motomaker, verizon claims it shipped from their warehouse

The return was so impossible (no one was willing to take it back) I'm just holding onto it and paying the monthly service until I get the $200 gift card from comcast so I can sell it on swappa and pay the ETF. I figure worst case I'll break even, best case I might make $50 or so. That assumes the gift card actually arrives and I don't end up having to file multiple BBB/AG complaints.

I'll never buy a brand new phone from anyone but verizon themselves again. I so rarely do (virtually all of my phones are used from swappa) that I didn't realize how incredibly painful a non-standard return was.

@clocks As I read this, the problem is Comcast has your money so neither Verizon nor Motorola want to give you a refund. Very messy situation.
