Verizon Nationwide low band 5G just got turned on today

I just got the update on my Verizon variant S20 FE. So, check your system updates if you have one of those.

The update also includes the October security patch. I don't know if there are any other fixes or updates included.

I'm still on 4G in my house.

Yeah I made a post here this morning about the October patch. Still no difference in 5g sticking
You post made me check my S20U which is already on 5G so that was silly on my part but I had an update sitting there. I think it's a beta fix and security patch though.

You have to wait for the update. Verizon branded models got it first. The only reason I have it on unlocked S20U us because I'm on Android 11 Beta. You can't switch off the 5G once you get it on Verizon.

Thats so weird since I am on the beta as well, and I tried pulling my SIM, restarting, and inserting it and I still have no 5g access. But I am also on the S20 5g unlocked standard so that may be why.

That one although not capable of uwb does get low band 5g. Maybe it isn't deployed in your area.

You don't remember when the S20 came out there was a big debate because Verizon waited to release their model which was uwb and lacked sd card? Besides the screen size that was the major difference between the S20 and S20+.
Why isn't it capable of UWB?

I missed the part where he said he had the standard

I meant to say S20 5g UWB Standard version, in other words not the ultra or etc... My mistake, this phone has so many different models and suffixes required to specify phone type lol

It does especially with the fe being released lol. So you say you have an unlocked model and not the Verizon variant correct? Asking because the standard model doesn't support uwb only the Verizon version.

I have the unlocked one yeah, also :O I didn't realize it didn't work on UWB, but did the research and yep, doesn't work.

Thanks for the info on the Unlocked version, buzzy3970 and Soligna. It'll save me from paying for something I wouldn't get. I still haven't gotten the basic update that is meant to unlock the regular 5G yet but I have noticed a (+) after my LTE icon. I wish I could remember if it had that before but I can't. I have noticed a lot more lag for all internet access, WiFi included, on this device over my S10+. I don't seem to loose connection but many of my apps seem slow to open if a connection is required and even my searches seem slower. Again this is over WiFi as well. I feel like I should have stuck with my gut on letting this model pass-by and waiting.

I went back a few days ago to see what the S10 Ultra was going for and it's still full price. :(

Yes it's crazy. You can actually get the Note 20 Ultra for cheaper than the S20 Ultra not including it starts cheaper. Unfortunately they haven't issued an update to access 5g on the unlock variants of the S20 on Verizon. Those of us that have the beta were lucky to get it, but I'm sure there will be an update out soon as Verizon is pushing 5g heavily and know there are a good amount of unlocked galaxy users on the network. Hang in there.

I was assured by Samsung support and Verizon that the unlocked s29 fe has all three bands, including the UW band

I have yet to see that confirmed. I'm not saying it doesn't, just don't know for sure.

Agree, I am still trying verify for myself.....if I can't prove it I will return it to Samsung. Possibly getting the Verizon locked model

I don't think it does (we discussed this near launch and I looked into it some then). Until someone actually comes on and says they received UW 5G with it, I'll continue to think that. There are too many reasons not to believe what they're telling you, especially since CS reps have contradicted themselves in answering the question.
