Verizon Navigation or Navigation?

I believe Verizon Navigation is something like $10 monthly, whereas Navigation is free. Is it worth it to pay an extra $10 monthly for Verizon Navigation? I played around with both apps today and I'm still trying to decide if it's worth it to have Verizon (VZ) Navigation or not. When I first installed Verizon Navigation, I got a message to download an update in order to see 3D maps. After downloading the update, and trying out Verizon Navigation, I did not see any 3D maps, or maybe I'm doing something wrong? What are other user's experience with both apps?

I use google nav and it's always worked great for me. I don't see any reason to pay for the verizon one personally.

+1

Why pay for something when you can get the same thing (or arguably better) for free?

I also use google nav. It is easier to use too.

When I was using Fascinate, I had purchased Co-Pilot Live as an alternative, since it uses downloaded maps. I found out it does not support HTC Thunderbolt yet. :(

Oh boy, I wouldn't trade google maps/nav for the world. I am a huge proponent of those. I use it for school and work allll the time. Streetview for finding places by school and at work on deliveries. Amazing. But in all fairness I've never used VZW's Nav. I'm sure its good, probably not $120/yr good

It is ridiculous that vz wants you to pay for navigation. the vz navigation was always wrong when i used it on prior phones.

Google is better and free. I can't tell you how many errors VZ nav has given me, or how many freeway ramps ive missed thanks to VZ nav not directing me quick enough. I just took a week long trip to California and back to Arizona using google nav. It was perfect. Didn't even need the voice guidance, just sat it in my cup holder and checked it every so often.

I thought about Co-Pilot, but with the new caching feature of Google maps I think it's moot unless you are without signal for quite some time.

With regards to the OP's question, Google maps is constantly updated, extremely accurate, and has never steered me wrong (<---See what I did there?)

Google Navigation is perfect and its free, no need to spend any money on navigation when google is providing it for free to be honest. The new maps dont even use that much data.

When I was on BB I had the VZ Nav because there wasn't the availability to have google nav free. As soon as I got my Incredible I canceled the VZ Nav. Saving 9.99 a month is great and the google voice is just as good as the Verizon version. I never had issues with the VZ Nav. Liked it but hated paying for it. It is so nice to have navigation that is totally free

I can't believe they even went through the trouble of making an navigation application for android. I love Verizon (been customer for 8+years) but they will never go away from trying to squeeze every dollar outa you and you can feel it at times.

example:
1
me "Hi is there away I can block unknown callers"
Verizion "Why yes we have a caller security plan and its only $10 a month"

2
me "is there away I can stay in control of the other accounts under my family plan and limit there use"
Verizon " why yes you can very easily we have a parental control plan and its $4.99 a month"

3
me. "So can I turn on and off the data plan of my xoom"
Verizon " yes you can when you activate it there is a $35 activation charge"
me "but that charge is only for the first time?"
Verizon "No everytime you want to activate it."
