Verizon Note Edge Thread

yep, it's higher DPI for the Edge because they packed more pixels for almost the same size screen.

I like the Edge screen better because it's wider than the Note 4. And then the Edge panel pops up brings with it so much more functionality.

Judging by how busy the Note 4 forums are, vs very quiet Edge forum, no question they have sold 50 or 100 times as many Note 4s. But as a long time Note user, I love the Edge.

Yeah quoting from Samsung's spec sheet its a (2560x(1440+160)) display, so I guess they just wanted to keep it near the same size? Since a 5.7 screen probably wouldn't keep the same form factor? Idk I'm out of ideas lol

I don't get the question? are you asking why the screen is 0.1" smaller?

The Edge had to be made wider to allow for the edge panel. It's basically the same size, as I said the Note 4 is narrower but taller. And Samsung is sticking to about 5.7" for this generation of phones. I am sure they'll gradually go up to 6" with future versions.

I didn't ask in the first place, just got into discussion lol. But yeah I wouldn't doubt that the note 5/edge 2 will have close to 6" screens (within an inch, such as the nexus 6 is really 5.9", but nobody really cares)

I'd grab an edge for $200 but no way I would pay over 7. Just too expensive for a gimmick.

what makes you think it's a gimmick? and if it is why would you want it?

I agree its not a gimmick, but its not something I use everyday (such as the s pen, multi window) but its definitely a nice feature to have (especially the night clock, that's super nice to have, I no longer have to pick my phone up to see the time at night)

I like gimmicks....just a question of how much I am willing to pay for one. A clock/nightlight is the definition of a gimmick. It gives access to a few apps all the time on the edge but you lose length when viewing video and don't gain width (not that you need it because HD movies aren't that wide.) You are insulted by the word gimmick. Please don't be. I consider the s pen a gimmick too but I often use it. An ir blaster is also a gimmick. I LIKE the side panel. I just don't like making the phone shorter to do it. I don't need greater pixel density. My eyes are not good enough to see it.

I may have to disagree on some of those points.. But I can understand on the price part. But to each their own :)

The more expensive the better, it makes it more exclusive. The Edge is a phone with limited production so it can be exclusive. I hope the price never drops and they stop selling it today. I discourage all to buy this phone. Don't even consider it, get an iPhone or something more affordable. :) I want the Edge all to myself and be the only one anywhere I go to whip it out.

You really don't use it every day? It's completely changed how I use my phone. I don't have any apps on the screen, my most used are in folders on the two panels that I can edit, I also use the Contacts to put the numbers I call the most for a one tap call, and like the recently used panel. I now have more real estate for playing around with my phone screen layout and playing a lot more with widgets than I ever did before. The edge has completely changed how I interact with my phone, and is definitely a useful tool for ME, vs. a gimmick. I would be hard pressed to go back to a phone in the future that didn't have one. I'm really hoping that this is a concept that's here to stay.

And why couldn't you have the same folder setup etc on any android phone?

I could, but I would have to minimize the screen/app I'm in to get to them. I can access them immediately from the side panel far more easily.

Well, I use it everyday, but not like I rely on it for use :) it's definitely more than a gimmick tho

I'm excited, my Verus Thor case came in today :D can't wait to check it out and see how it feels compared to just the naked edge lol

Not quite as spectacular as I thought. Good quality, but kinda slick and fat (uneven a little, I'll get over it). Not rubbery, think more hard plastic, with a matte, but not soft touch like the nexus 7, back cover :/ it works tho, I'll enjoy a bit more protection (though I've only dropped it twice, which is good for a klutz like me)

Anyone know if Verizon will get the White Edge....not digging the black version.

Yes, only the CEO of VZW has it. But for the rest of us it's only black.

Now it makes sense... I was able to purchase a WHITE verizon door cover on ebay last month.

I only did this so I could change the look of my phone from time to time with my clear UAG case. (Of course I cover that advertisement up with a decal :p ) I just wondered why if you have white doors why don't you have white phones.

I did happen to notice the Edge is on backorder until the 13th as well.
