Verizon offer FREE INC2 or X2

Is the Inc 2 a better phone?

Just depends on your personal preferences. They're pretty comparable spec-wise with the exception of the Charge being 4G capable. But unless you live in a 4G area, that benefit is moot. I don't, and I don't expect Verizon to turn on 4G here any time soon, so I'm perfectly fine without it.

Screens are the same resolution, Inc's is 4 inches, Charge's is 4.3. That means the screens will display the exact same thing, just a little bigger on the Charge. If you're not fitting more on the screen, to me, a larger size is pointless.

Both have similar front and rear cameras. The Incredible 2 has a real, honest to god, notification led. Incredible probably has better build-quality (I found the physical buttons on the charge to be extremely flimsy). Incredible has a reportedly weaker antennae (hopefully not an issue), currently has official Gingerbread but can't yet be rooted (after the Gingerbread OTA). Charge is still on 2.2 and, well, it from Samsung, so got only knows when it'll get an update and/or how buggy it'll be.

HTC has been unlocking bootloaders during updates, although they haven't mentioned the Inc 2 specifically yet. But in all likelihood, it'll be hacked soon enough, as HTC seems to have a more robust dev community in general.

Personally, assuming I don't have any signal strength issues, I'll be perfectly happy with the Incredible 2. It feels better, it's a little smaller and I have no real need for 4G mobile data at this point. It'll easily last me well beyond my next upgrade legibility.

I just did the switch last week for the Incredible 2. I originally had the Incredible and bought the Fascinate because I wanted a 4 inch screen and the awesome looking screen. After having the missed call issues with the Fascinate and not being too impressed with the performance I decided to see if Verizon would do the switch for me. Best decision I could have made. The Incredible 2 has the 4 inch screen and I was pleasantly surprised with how nice it looks. I don't even miss the Super AMOLED. Also, HTC Sense just works. I forgot how nice it was using an HTC phone and I probably won't get anythign but HTC in the future.

Incredible 2:
way snappier than the original Incredible and the Fascinate
no missed call problems
Front facing camera
ridiculous battery life, it's night and day from the original Incredible and way better than the Fascinate
Gingerbread

The battery life was the reason I DIDN'T want an Incredible 2, seeing as my brothers incredible is terrible. I can really see the difference in SAMOLED and the LCD, I just can't see myself going back. I looked at them today and while the resolution is nice, the phones screen isn't quite comparable, it looked a bit dull. I can imagine the build quality is far better seeing as HTC makes high quality phones, and I'm sure the phone feels better in the hand too. I went ahead and opted for the Charge being that it's 4g and I'll spend a good portion of my time in a 4g area. I don't think I'll be going wrong either way. If I don't like it, they said I could go to the Incredible 2. (:

So happy with my Charge i got today. Very similar to the fassy...just bigger and faster. It does go in and out of 4g service in an area where it should be solid though. But fortunately so far its been available when ive needed it.

My Charge was brand new and came with the 32gb SIM card.

so i talked to verizon today about missing calls (which happened today)....talked to customer service for a while (too long) and she transfers me to the tech guy. all he did was call my phone and text it a bunch of times to make sure i got them.....waste of my time.

someone give me a game plan. should i just call and say "give me an x2/inc2"? I have terrible luck with the verizon reps. anybody ever get anything positive from the vzw live chat?

please someone tell me how i can get rid of my fascinate

I'll tell you step by step what I did/said.

I said (truthfully) that I was experiencing missed calls, texts, and 3g data cutting in and out. I told them I'm aware that it's a known problem, and I can't afford to miss phone calls. (If they say they aren't aware, ask to speak with a supervisor) They then told me that Samsung has issued a fix for the phone, supposed to be out soon. I told them I'm aware, and I can't rely on that, that I needed a working phone as soon as possible. They went ahead and told me they were able to replace it with a x2, or inc2, and I told them I felt like those phones in terms of screen quality were a downgrade. I said I prefer to stick with an AMOLED screen, like the Droid Charge. They said they weren't able to do that, and I'd have to do an early upgrade. I said that's fine, I'd like to inquire about an early upgrade, they then said they needed to speak with their supervisor to issue the early upgrade. The supervisor picked up the line, I mentioned I wanted the Droid Charge, they said I didn't need an early upgrade for it, they were going to mark it on the account and I could go into a store and have them order it.

Today, I went into the store, spoke with a manager, they told me I would have to pay an early upgrade fee, they offered me the 2 year price, I declined stating that the customer service rep said I wouldn't have to pay anything. They had me call customer service in the store, speak with a rep, who then spoke with the stores main manager, issuing the phone for free. Tomorrow I should be receiving a Droid Charge, heading to the VZW store for the SIM, and ready to go.

Got my charge today brand new also with 32 gig card. No sim card have to go to Verizon to get the sim card. My gf did this last week no problems didn't renew her contract or anything and she had her fascinate from best buy and the best buy insurance. They let her switch the insurance over and order the charge no problem just popped the sim card in and bam that was it. They also let her switch out her fascinate card dock for the charge one. Don't know If I or anyone else will be that lucky. So I'm going in tomorrow to get my charge activated.

Oh about which one you should get from the inc2 or charge here is my thoughts. I own the charge and the inc2. The inc2 has great battery life and more ram than the charge. Its faster and smoother than the charge.(played with my gfs not mine yet) The screens are same resolution as stated, but the inc2 is only super lcd the charge is Super amoled plus remember the plus...Also the charge doesn't use pen tile display like the fascinate. So it looks better, crisper, and overall brighter. The inc2 screen doesn't look bad but the colors just aren't as vibrant as the charge. The Inc2 to does have weak signal, I've dropped more calls with the Inc2 than I have with any other phone. Call quality for it was actually good but the dropped calls and poor 3g almost every where I go was annoying. At my gfs house the Inc2 had no signal, on the charge she has had full 3g signal.

Plus depends on preferences like do you like htc sense? Or do you like touch wiz? The Inc2 has gingerbread which makes everything smooth and fast also added wifi gps etc toggle in the notification bar like your used to with the fascinate, but it added no visual changes which disappointed me. Also remember no rooting for it right now.Plus you don't get the touch wiz typing sounds you get default android oh yeah and no swype, you have to download the swype beta.

The charge is basically a big fascinate with a better screen, larger screen 4.3 inch and 4g.It also has hard buttons. The specs are the same no different. One thing to also remember about the charge is it is now a droid phone so updates will be faster and its also got all google no bing. I love the SF so the charge was the choice for me.

Sorry for the long review but maybe that will help some of you with your choice.I'm telling you though the Inc2 from what I heard has the antenna at the bottom of the phone. I could hold the phone at the bottom and the dbm would go up 10. Everywhere I go in Raleigh nc the Inc2 would have like 2 to 3 bars of 3g never the full bars. We just got 4g here.So I will test the charge with this but the Inc2 has been a pain for me with dropping calls and just sucking at 3g. Hope that helps.

I know this is (obviously) an Android community, but what are the opinions on the Charge over the iPhone 4? My friend has a new iPhone 4, wants to trade for my Charge which I'm getting tomorrow. I feel in terms of resale the iPhone wins, not sure about other pros/cons though.

Be careful to not get attached to it. The iPhone 4 does have high resale value but when the new iPhone comes out no one will want it. Does that mean if you traded you would be using it for a while?

Assuming I trade, I'd be using it for roughly a year or a little bit longer. My girlfriend also has a fascinate, and she's going to get a Droid Charge as well, she wants an iphone so, I was considering having her trade for the iphone and I could just keep my charge and mess with both. :p So far that plan seems to be the best, only we have to get her a Charge now..

Well make sure she gets the charge before you give up your charge. Sounds like a good plan to me.

That's exactly what I told her. I want to make sure she gets the Charge first. I'd rather not be stuck with the iPhone, I figure I'll stick with Android and just tinker with her phone a bit. (: Can't wait to take the Charge for a spin tomorrow!

So, I flashed to stock 2.1, but then I hit update and it just says please wait then it disapears.. any idea on how to update it?

I wouldn't even worry about it if it's stock. They aren't going to go through it and send it back. They'll just reflash it with whatever firmware they are shipping them with.

Like others have said, you probably don't need to worry about it as long as it's on some official version. But I did manage to get mine back to ED04 and ready to be returned. I flashed the Odin stock DL09, then ran the official EA28 update.zip, then the official ED01 update.zip. At that point, trying to OTA kept failing with either server unavailable or no update found. I waited a day, gave it another try and it found the ED04 update. If you really want to update and can't find the necessary files (DL09, EA28 and ED01), PM me and I'll get them to you.

This is exactly what I did yesterday as well... Wouldn't update on its own on any version, but waited a bit and ED01 updated itself to ED04.

But I agree with everyone else, as long as you're on some official stock build (DI01, DL09, EA28, ED01, ED03, ED04) then you're fine.
