Verizon offer FREE INC2 or X2

yeah, i tried to get on this inc2/dx2 gravy train as well and was offered a crappy continuum instead, i ended up negotiating for an original DX. should be here in 2 days.

Well the good news is if the DX goes bad you'll probably get a DX2 as a replacement.

Went to the store to order the charge. The rep agreed to over night shipping and when i got home i saw on my receipt that it is 2day shipping. Called up vzw and was told that it is too late to change the shipping because the order has went through! I really wanted my new phone before the weekend, looks like that wont happen

you'll be getting a $600 phone for free on Friday.... I think you will survive
 
Just got off the phone with Verizon and they are going to replace my Fascinate with a Droid Incredible 2 (I had the choice of a Droid 2 or the Charge as well). Verizon did not put up a fight at all!! They explained to me that after the froyo update the issues of missed calls, battery life and crashes is a known issue and Samsung does not believe they can fix the issue with a software update, so they are replacing them. The tech did not even have me perform any troubleshooting. Looks like the Samsung Fascinate is dead...from Verizon at least.

I just hope that the screen on the incredible 2 is almost as nice as it it on the Fascinate.

One more thing.....the phone replacement is not a new phone it is a refurbished phone.

I was actually pleasantly surprised with the screen on the Incredible 2. Of course it doesn't look as good as the Super AMOLED but it looks much better than the original Incredible did. I don't miss the Super AMOLED at all because the Incredible 2 is better in every other area.
 
Just got my charge today. New phone with charger and 32gig SD card installed. Had to go to Verizon store to get the SIM card. Been setting it up and playing with it scince 2 o'clock. So far so good. :cool:
 
Decided today to call verizon and see if I could also jump on this exchange wagon lol. Talked to a woman who didn't seem to really know about this exchange and she tried to troubleshoot, but I called from the fascinate and told her I couldn't call back from another line. Then I told her to check their database for information or talk to a supervisor about the fascinate having missed call problems. She asked me to hold for a few minutes while she did some research. She came back a few minutes later and told me that I was correct but she still had to troubleshoot, but she could only offer the incredible 2 or the dx2. Or I could go into a store and have them troubleshoot it and they could order me a charge. I asked her to mark it on my account and I would go into the store.

30 minutes later I went into the store and started talking to one of their sales people about this and she didn't seem to sure about what I said and asked a few other employees who told her they could do an exchange for a droid charge. 10 minutes later I had a receipt and was told it was being shipped 2 day fed ex to my house. Also had them do it for my sister who I brought along. So all in all had a great customer service experience, just stand your ground and know what you are talking about and hopefully you get in and out as fast as I did!

Looking forward to my new charge, hopefully Friday!

I ended up calling verizon again, and was told that if I didn't like the DX, I could call back and exchange it for something else. i had them make a note on my account as well. Wish me luck, lol.
 
Got my DROID X2 this afternoon and using it now. Love it, the screen is nice and large for my hands, the phone is nice and fast, I've been on it all afternoon and night and would have killed the fascinate battery by now (45% left). Went with the DX2 because I wanted the dual core and I'll be eligible in a year or so for an upgrade and 4G should be working good then. Had the option of the Charge, couldn't do it, Samsung has left a horrible taste in my mouth. This phone is way more solidly built.

jumped on the band wagon got the charge coming loved the fassy with comrom 2.1 but tired of missing calls and text so we'll see what happens .I want to thank all the developers and everyone one here for their help and for answering all my questions.
 
I went to Verizon tonight. The gentleman who helped me was very nice. I told him about the missed call issue. First he suggested a hard reset. I explained I already had done so several times with tech support. He then decided on warranty replacement. I asked what he would be sending me as a replacement. I was told it would be another Fascinate.

I asked him to check his bulletins. I explained the known problems & the replacement program. He scrolled through the computer for a few minutes. He then asked his supervisor if I qualify. The supervisor looked at the screen, said yes and was told my choices are the Charge, X2 & Dinc2.

I was sure I would choose the X2, however at the last second, I changed my mind & ordered the Charge. Believe it or not, I think I made the wrong decision. :(

My co worker got sent a free charge cuz he called every week for 2 months about problems with his palm pre which they already replaced twice. I think anyone with a problematic phone could get a new one lol
 
Verizon offered me a INC2 or X2 for free if I send back my replacement Fascinate(I have 2). I love the Fascinate so I'm going to send them 1. I will keep the one I rooted and customized because I love it.

My real question is which phone would the community recommend the INC2 or X2 and why. Please keep in mind I do want to root and flash ROMS etc.... Thanks

That depends on what you want. The DX2 has superior hardware (dual core processor and camera), but the DInc has better software (Sense) and a front facing camera. If it were me I would go for the DX2 and put Launcher Pro or another launcher on it, but that is only because I have a DInc1 already.

HTC has promised (but not delivered on) unlocking their boot loaders and Moto has not done neither, but either phone can get custom roms in any case, it's just a little harder.
 
I think the party's over. Verizon just released ED05 to fix the call issue. I'm downloading it now. Let's see if it works.
 
Apparently I should have been browsing the Fascinate forums for my wife to get her a new(used) phone. She said she is downloading the update now.

Can anyone provide me with the stock baseband version, kernal version, firmware and build number? Need to contact Verizon regarding my phone and left it at home. :(
 
I just got off the phone with Verizon...they wouldn't give me a new phone besides another Fascinate as they said that ANOTHER update is coming out on August 1st which is supposed to fix the issue.

Looks like I missed the gravy train.
 
well, i get my x2 on monday 8/1 and i'm in panic mode to unroot my fascinate before i send it back...i am afraid they will charge me full price if i send them a rooted phone...anyone know which of the posts in this jungle of words has the easiest unroot process available?
