I plan to use the phone on Verizon, but chose the UNLOCKED version because I may want to move to another carrier soon. Is that ok? Or should I cancel and reorder the verizon version?

Will it use the same SIM as my nexus 6p? Just take it out of my 6p and put in pixel 2?

I just ordered the Verizon variant of the Pixel XL 2 from the Google store.

So the only difference b/w the verizon and unlocked is that it comes with a Verizon Sim? And I already have a Verizon Sim from my 6p, so I assume I'm good here

Either version will allow access to other networks.
If the VZW version is unlocked then the only difference must be the inclusion of the SIM card. What about software installed? Any VZW bloat out of the box or is that downloaded on SIM registration?

Just pre ordered on the Verizon app the Pixel 2 XL Panda. Expected delivery date Nov. 1st

IIRC last year it installs 2-3 apps for Verizon when a SIM was popped in for Verizon. They can be uninstalled though.

The original Pixel from Verizon had an encrypted (locked) bootloader. So, I'd assume Pixel 2 from Verizon would be the same.

I agree. Especially as the two choices offered were "Unlocked" and "Verizon." That tells me that the bootloader is still locked. My best guess is that the Verizon version is carrier unlocked but the bootloader is still encrypted. If that were not the case, there would be no need for two separate versions, especially as Verizon software files are minimal on the Verizon version, and can be loaded on the unlocked version if Verizon is your carrier.

It seems silly that they go through the trouble of making 2 models when they really don't need to.

Does using a Verizon Pixel with another carrier generate the same old "non Verizon sim" message? If not then I'd day there is truly no difference where you get the Pixel from.
