VERIZON or Unlocked?

I have used my Google Store Pixel XL on T-Mobile and Metro PCS... on both, I just popped in the SIM and they were good to go... Metro did make me make a call to notify them of the phone.... But it worked as soon as I booted the phone up.

The unlocked works on all networks including Verizon. I have the current gen Pixel XL unlocked and have had no issues using it with my Verizon sim card.

Does using a Verizon Pixel with another carrier generate the same old "non Verizon sim" message? If not then I'd day there is truly no difference where you get the Pixel from.

It doesn't

If you are using an unlocked Pixel with a Verizon sim card, will Verizon features like Visual Voicemail, Advanced Calling, etc. work as usual?

Worked on the first gen Pixel.

I plan to use the phone on Verizon, but chose the UNLOCKED version because I may want to move to another carrier soon. Is that ok? Or should I cancel and reorder the verizon version?
I had the same question and contacted Google support. They confirmed Unlocked will work on Verizon and any other carrier. I am currently using the original unlocked Pixel XL on Verizon. But still wanted to ask to be sure

Putting Verizon iPhone 7+ SIM in Pixel 2 XL - straightforward?

That is,

I know sometimes iPhone plans/SIM cards are set up differently (or so I have been told), and sometimes a different sim or at least a phone call to VZW is needed.

Is that still the case?

Are they both nano-sims?

Yes you should just be able to put it in and not care.

The only place to get the unlocked version is the Google Store - correct?

No matter where you get the Pixel 2 or XL it will be sim unlocked. This means you can get the phone from Verizon but use it on any other carrier. Best Buy is selling the model that Verizon is selling. The only difference between what Best Buy and Verizon sells and what Google sells is that the version Google sells has an unlockable bootloader. If you don't root/rom then getting the phone from BestBuy/Verizon shouldn't be an issue. If you root/rom I suggest getting the phone from Google.

Thanks - Just ordered a 64GB Just Black Pixel from the Google store - happy with the Pixel XL I got from them so might as well keep the run going.

The only thing I will add to that is that the Google model has a slightly higher resale value but it's not by a lot and over time it is possibly less significant. On a personal level rooting is not important to me. Been there, done that. Not knocking the rooting crowd... I just see less use for it especially with a Pixel.

Mike - I would not know how to root the phone if my life depended on it - BUT - if I wanted to learn - I could - :)

I purchaed the Best Buy version will it work on Cricket a GSM newwork BB specs say CDMA ?

You cannot just swap SIM cards around. They have to have the device IME numbers transferred on the account.

I use an unlocked Moto G4 Plus on Verizon. I could not get Visual VoiceMail to work, Verizon Cloud. Had difficulties with just getting even Voicemail to work. These may work now, can't be bothered. Have not missed them. Expect some things to not work from maybe Verizon apps, or be glitchy. I also am not supported by iHeartRadio. But, using free Google Play stations, and the very first music channel I went for, it's like it read my mind. And playing, some artist, with some degree of celebrity musicians...just not Top 40 play recognition. iHeartradio, my heart is not broken, and I will go on. Lol.

One big difference is, if you are trading in a phone for a discount. Verizon gives you the discount over 24 months. Google gives it to you in a lump sum. Also, Google estimated my pixel was worth 350 while Verizon would give 300.
