Verizon- pie update?

anyone have the link to arl1. I can't remember if I downloaded it off someone's Google Drive I don't believe it was on firmware science.

Either sammobile will have which is painfully slow to download or xda someone with a link

CSAA is the official universal update for pie. This was released to US carriers by Samsung. Now it looks like a new security update has come out as well this doesnt mean anything.

CSB3 is the new security patch for february as US carriers are always messing with **** it looks like Verizon is going to be pushing pie CSAAA with CSB3. Same thing Tmobile is doing. It's like dumb and dumber and dumbest have made your lifes miserable.

So they are packaging the CSAA with CSB3 from the looks of it your getting pie plus the security patch.

PS sorry my Verizon was off we only predict what we know things change all the time especially US carriers always messing with stuff.

I found my previous arl1 download on my computer. I thought I had cleared them all out haha.

Yea Samsung needs to go around them like apple does honestly.

This is the 1st time we have seen a official update like this so who knows maybe soon we will get batch updates directly from Samsung I know for a fact bloatware is down to three or 4 applications from the carriers now and wifi calling use to be a big thing now everyone has it even vanilla android has it. So we will see.

These statements are incorrect. First, CSAA is not the "official universal" update for Pie. T-Mobile, for example, never released a CSAA update; their official Pie update is CSB3 instead.

Second, CSB3 is not just a security patch (although a security patch is one of the things it includes). It has other changes as well. In particular, it fixes the compass, which CSAA had broken (which is presumably why T-Mobile waited for CSB3 rather than releasing the earlier broken firmware).

Maybe I missed something, can we go from CSAA to CSB3 doing a side load?
Not yet. I was bored yesterday and rolled back to arl1 and installed csb3. Didn't take too long and was easy. Only drawback was having to wipe data, which wasn't really a big deal.

So as a Verizon Note 9 owner, I took the leap early in the game and did the pie update to the CSAA version. It's now apparent that Verizon will be releasing a newer version that will look for ARL1 as it's reference upgrade. As someone who wants to get back on track, is it even possible to ODIN back on the Verizon version? I have read that you can't use ODIN on snapdragon versions of the Note. Next as you indicated Mustang, there are other US carriers who will be upgrading from CSAA. Once that is released, will the CSB3 from CSAA work with my Verizon phone? Even though I love Pie on my Note 9, I am kind of kicking myself for my lack of patience, wondering what I got myself into?

You can go back to ARL1 through Odin, or wait for CSAA to CSB3 from Att and sprint that are on it . But will wipe phone if you go back to ARL1 but wont if you wait for sd card to csb3.. it's up to you.

Yes once att and sprint release it
Unless you are someone who isn't affected much by a wipe, or is desperate for the compass fix, this seems like a fine solution. Having to re-do everything after a wipe is a big task for me, and the compass isn't bothering me. I can wait.

True if it's too much of a process then I would wait, for me I'm so use to flashing that I get my phones up and running in about 20 to 25 minutes as I will finally stay on the unlocked version when first availability of pie on it .
With Google and Samsung back up, it makes it a breeze for me even though I back it up through smart switch I almost never use it.

If the Odin method is of concern you can get back to ARL1 by using the Verizon Samsung Update Assistant. I pushed my Verizon N9 back using this last night. Takes a lot of the work out since it downloads the firmware etc.. Works easy enough on WIN10 can't speak for Mac or anything else.
Make sure phone is communicating with PC and Assistant via USB cable. You have to give permission on phone and select System Update as USB mode before starting Asst. It will say your software version is not eligible for update - - this let's you know everything is talking. If your PC asks what to do when this USB device is plugged in select Run Verizon Asst. Unplug USB.
Then put phone in download mode, I use Power/Bixby/VolUp and then select Bootloader (option 2) rather than Power/Bixby/VolDwn -- have had better luck with comms.
Plug phone into PC, Asst should come up, select next, says your phone needs Repaired do you want to proceed.....
Asst puts ARL1 onto phone along with a full wipe so have what you want / need backed up. Mine took 15-20 min and then I reloaded backup.
Your mileage may vary.

You have to have the previous, version of ARL1 that was on your phone backed up to your PC in order to use this method correct?
