a side from coverage, what are some pros and cons for each carrier?

I just. Got the gear s watch to go with my Samsung phone and the Verizon network can't support call forward when remote connected. Minus.

Thinking about going back to AT&T, but would like to weigh the pros and cons.

They're pretty much the same. AT&T has rollover whereas Verizon has the NFL app.

Thanks... Could care less about NFL app, but rollover would be nice.

What's the consensus on the next vs. 2 year contract deal? The plan would be for a smart phone w/ 2GB data and a Gear S watch.

I come up with roughly the same cost for both plans on ATT - one line, one gear s is within 5.00 of each other. It all comes down to whether or not I want to pay more up front and be on a contract, or pay for the phone over 24 months and not be on a contract.

Did I do that correctly?

Just do a mock order on att for both, then multiply the monthly cost by 24 months. I believe that the contract is cheaper by around $200-250 over 2 years. There is a $300 promotion for new next account, so it is probably a wash this time around.

ATT is more expensive right now, only because I"m on a family share plan with four lines on Verizon right now. That breaks the per line cost down to about 66.00/month.

On ATT I did as suggested and ordered both packages, Next and 2 year contract, and they both end up costing with 5.00 dollars of each other at the end of a 24 month period. Either plan is around 80.00/month so more than I'm paying now on Verizon.

I was looking for some comparisons like one mentioned above = ATT has rollover data. That's a nice bonus I didn't know about.

Network enhancements, overall speed, customer service, etc. Things like Verizon is not offering two year contracts and ATT is would be good info to know as I tend to favor the 2 year contract method of purchasing my phones. With all of the dishonesty that goes on in the sales of mobile phones, and reps having to keep their numbers up, they have every reason to try and tell me my 'leased' phone does not meet the minimum condition requirements to return it after a year and upgrade (assuming I'm in the next plan). I just don't like to play the games. I don't lease cars for the same reason. I just pay cash and finance later if I need the money. Or vice versa if I think financing will get me a better deal at a dealership. But I digress....

It was a broad question but I"m looking for broad answers.

One meaningful difference is that because ATT is a GSM network, you can get some phones that don't work on Verizon, such as the one plus (which I'm pretty sure has the bands to support ATT).

Price wise both carriers should be about equal, for new customers at least. Both have so many legacy deals out there that you'll need to do the math for yourself (as you did).

The only other consideration is signal quality where you spend most of your time, and that can only be discovered through actual usage unfortunately.

Price wise, both are pretty equal. Maybe a few bucks here and there but that's it.

Coverage, I found VXZ coverage was better 75% of the places I've gone too. But the rest, ATT was better so coverage is the biggest factor when deciding on which carrier to go too. Check your area to see what's better.

ATT has the 2-year phone prices which I think will be gone too in a few months. Whatever VZW does, ATT does and whatever ATT does, VZW does. ATT introduce the phone payment plan, VZW copied. VZW got rid of unlimited data plans, ATT copied. VZW raises plan prices, ATT copied. They both copy each other.

Verizon is a but more locked down with their phones which might be a disadvantage for the user but to some, no biggie.
